RR Auction A massive auction is happening for any Ramones fan with some extra cash to burn. Possessions from late, legendary vocalist Joey Ramone that include part of his record collection, some of his clothes, handwritten lyrics, his rolodex and even his long-expired passport are being auctioned off. According to Billboard , who have posted tons of pictures of the possessions set to be sold off, auctioneers will be selling 97 pieces of vinyl once owned by Joey Ramone. Some of the records up for sale include titles from Led Zeppelin , the Who, Bob Dylan, Iggy Pop , KISS , the Doors, Elton John and more. RR Auction will be selling the albums, which are in “overall very good to fine condition” according to RR, only with some scattered creases and “small tears to sleeves, affixed price tags and labels and marks.” The albums come from the Joey Ramone Estate, and the collection has been verified by Joey’s brother Mickey via a letter of authenticity. Joey Ramone’s rolodex is full of business cards from heavy hitters such as ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll High School’ producer Allan Arkush along with individuals from Epitaph Records, EMI, Geffen and many others. The most interesting item for sale is arguably Joey Ramone’s personal passport, which was issued to him on Sept. 9, 1986. The passport is signed by Joey, whose birth name, Jeff Ross Hyman is printed legibly on the document. The punk rock legend, who passed away from cancer in 2001, put out a posthumous album, ‘…Ya Know?,’ full of previously unreleased rarities last year. The collection includes the double-disc ‘Avalon Live,’ ‘The Making of Avalon Live’ documentary, ‘The Journey to Avalon’ documentary, and a DVD of bloopers and outtakes. The box set also contains a pair of CDs — the original ‘Avalon’ album and the ‘Avalon Live’ show recording. Other items that are part of the collection include an autographed limited edition coffee table book, an updated version of Sully’s personal memoir, ‘The Paths We Choose,’ a limited edition poster from the show at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston, and a limited edition t-shirt, a Sully Erna hat and necklace, a commemorative backstage pass from the 2010 tour, a guitar pick and a custom handmade incense chosen by Erna. The full collection is priced at $249, but the first 1,000 people to pre-order will get it for $199. In addition, Erna has placed five “golden tickets” in the boxes and the winners will receive trips with the vocalist to either Napa, Boston, New York, Las Vegas, or Avalon/Catalina Island. This may seem like an odd warning to offer, but in a recent interview Marilyn Manson told a bizarre story about nearly stealing $20,000 Rolex watches from musician John Mayer. During an interview with PhillyBurbs.com , Manson was referred to as “our last rock star,” citing that bands no longer engage in the legendary debauchery of the past. The healthier lifestyle of modern musicians and lack of youthful rebellion was referred to as the “John Mayer-ization of rock,” which prompted Manson to tell his personal John Mayer story. “I met him [Mayer] right after he got in trouble for saying the “n” word,” begins Manson. “You don’t want to say that word, even if you’re black because you’ll get your ass beat. He was shifty, cagey and weird. Mayer invited me up to his room and he proceeded to show me, out of his safe, his collection of Rolex watches; they’re about $20,000 apiece. Why do you need a watch? I have an iPhone. I was contemplating going into the bathroom, putting whatever metal objects I had in my sock and just rolling him. When he would tell people, ‘Marilyn Manson stole my watches,’ who would believe him?” The answer to Manson’s question is: EVERYBODY! Comparing this to rumors that were widely believed during the course of Manson’s career, a few stolen watches are pretty minor. Black Veil Brides Reveal Title + Artwork for Upcoming Album
October 9th, 2012 Metalkult Facebook: Black Veil Brides Black Veil Brides recently pushed their upcoming album to 2013, and now we know the title and release month for the set. The disc will be titled ‘Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones,’ and it’s expected to arrive in January. The group has also posted the artwork for the new disc. It features a tiny warrior amidst skeletal remains preparing to do battle with a giant dark figure, who appears to be looking down at his latest competition with a smile on his skeletal face. The artwork was done by Richard Villa, who has worked with the band on their past albums. Though an official release date has not been set, the band will push ahead with pre-orders for the ‘Wretched and Divine’ album, with fans able to register for the collection as of Halloween. With their new album essentially complete, Black Veil Brides will return to the road on Nov. 24, taking part in the California Metalfest in San Bernardino, Calif. At present, the only other show on their schedule is a Jan. 15 date at Jacksonville, Fla.’s Brewsters Roc Bar. Metallica Teaming Up With Vans for Special Edition Shoes
October 3rd, 2012 Metalkult Vans Metal legends Metallica are teaming up with the iconic skate shoe company Vans for a new line of sneakers that celebrate the band’s storied career. “I’ve been wearing Vans on stage my whole freakin’ career (and way before that!),” said Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo. “Whether I’m walking the streets of Venice or San Francisco, Vans provides the funk in my stride!” The collaboration kicks off with a limited edition Vans x Metallica 20th Anniversary Half Cab Pro . It’s part of of the year long celebration marking the 20th anniversary of the Half Cab, the most popular skate shoe of all time. The heavy-duty canvas and suede “black to the floor” Metallica edition features classic band lyrics embossed in the side, exclusive Vans x Metallica x Steve Caballero labeling and a unique clear rubber sole with ‘Kill ‘Em All’ album artwork showing through. “To have Metallica, my all-time favorite metal band, collaborating with me on this 20th anniversary Half Cab shoe is an honor and a dream come true,” said Caballero. “I’m very stoked that Vans is working with such a legendary band and the Half Cab is just the beginning.” In early 2013, the ‘Passion Projects’ will launch.
