Queens of the Stone Age Describe New Album as ‘Manic and Unpredictable’

Kristian Dowling, Getty Images Queens of the Stone Age are having a little fun with the media leading up to the release of their next album. Singer Josh Homme and band took the time to write up a missive on their forthcoming release for Mojo magazine, admitting a little bit of the pretention that comes with quotes hyping an album. Queens of the Stone Age have been in the studio for a good part of 2012 with Foo Fighters leader Dave Grohl coming on board to play drums for the full record and both former Queens of the Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri and Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor lending a hand as well during sessions. The Mojo message , which featured a rather artful drawing of a single eye with a clock face in place of the pupil that’s set to 9:00, reads as follows: Dear Mojo, A stitch in time will save you 9, but … there’s no way we could have prepared for the journey up the river that is this album. In our grand plan, we envisioned our lives and recordings running like clockwerk. However, the reality has been manic and unpredictable. These songs aren’t recollections of the times we had. They are depictions of what we are going through in real time. It means even a bad event can turn into an unforgettable song — at least for us, ha. The record sounds like running in a dream inside a codeine cabaret. I hope you understand what that means, cause we don’t. Sounds like a load of pretentious s—! What? Gotta go, the therapist says our time is up… Queens of the Stone Age Homme recently spoke about the difficulty the band has had in getting their new album to completion. Though a firm title or release date has yet to be announced, it’s expected that the next Queens of the Stone Age album will arrive in the first half of 2013. Metallica Unveil ‘Quebec Magnetic’ Footage of ‘Master of Puppets’ Performance

YouTube: Metallica Metallica fans are a devoted bunch and you get to see their passion for the band in full effect in the newly posted video of ‘Master of Puppets’ that’s part of the upcoming ‘ Quebec Magnetic ‘ DVD. The group deliver a blistering performance musically, but James Hetfield , perhaps encouraged by the audience response, lets the crowd fill in some of the vocal parts on ‘Master of Puppets’ while he and the band let loose with their furious playing. The song is definitely a highlight of the forthcoming release. Metallica headed to Quebec City in the fall of 2009 as part of their ‘World Magnetic Tour’ and the shows were filmed for the forthcoming DVD/Blu-Ray offering, ‘Quebec Magnetic,’ which will be in stores Dec. 10. This will be the band’s first release via their new Blackened Recordings label. The group recently announced the launch of the label in coordination with the news that they had taken control of the masters of their past recordings, giving the band full access over how their music is used going forward. Part of having control means the band can offer their concert film at the reasonable price of $15.98 for either the DVD or Blu-Ray format. Fans were allowed to vote on the set list, and the home video will include 18 songs from the concert, plus an additional eight “bonus songs.” ‘Quebec Magnetic’ can be pre-ordered here . Hollywood Undead Unveil ‘Notes From the Underground’ Album Artwork + Track Listing

A&M / Octone The return of Hollywood Undead is upon us, as the band has now revealed the artwork and track listing for their forthcoming ‘Notes From the Underground’ album. The latest news follows the recent revelation that the disc would arrive on Jan. 8 and the current success of the new single, ‘We Are.’ The band recently announced that they were shooting a video for the track with Slipknot ‘s Shawn “Clown” Crahan stepping behind the camera to film the clip . As for the artwork (seen to the left), it offers the look of a weathered book with stenciled orange lettering set against a solid red backdrop with an image of a bird carrying its prey. The disc itself consists of 11 new tunes, led by ‘ We Are .’ One of the band’s vocalists, Johnny 3 Tears, recently stated of the track and its background, “The song is about collective resistance. It’s the silent majority, but we’re using Los Angeles as the backdrop. Every time we work with Danny [Lohner], he takes our music to the next level. He’s willing to go as far outside the box as we are. As a whole, it’s a good introduction to ‘Notes From The Underground’ because it encompasses the band idealistically. Think of it as an ode to our misled youth.” The set also features the lead off track, ‘Dead Bite,’ which the band already previewed, as well as such standouts as ‘Another Way Out’ and ‘Believe.’ The full track listing is provided below. Hollywood Undead, ‘Notes From the Underground’ Track List: 1. ‘Dead Bite’ 2. ‘From the Ground’ 3. ‘Another Way Out,’ 4. ‘Lion’ 5. ‘We Are’ 6. ‘Pigskin’ 7. ‘Rain’ 8. ‘Kill Everyone’ 9. ‘Believe’ 10. ‘Up in Smoke’ 11. ‘Outside’ [button href=”http://loudwire.com/hollywood-undead-notes-from-the-underground-webisode-1-exclusive-premiere/” title=”Next: Watch a Hollywood Undead ‘Notes From the Underground’ Webisode” align=”center”]

Queensryche Trailer Reveals Sound of First New Music With Frontman Todd La Torre

Loud & Proud Queensryche have spent most of the year in the headlines for their legal issues with now former frontman Geoff Tate , but the time has come to put the court issues on the backburner and get back to making music. Fans can now check out the first taste of what a Todd La Torre-led Queensryche will sound like thanks to a new trailer that’s surfaced online. Helping to build the buzz, the trailer begins with the simple wordage, “Remember now. Remember how it started.” What follows is a string of snippets of songs that show off the range of La Torre, who can hit some of the highest highs that Tate used to hit, but also use his low register as well. In addition, it’s clear that being without the frequent creative force hasn’t led Queensryche members Scott Rockenfield, Eddie Jackson and Michael Wilton too far off course. The longtime Queensryche trio, along with veteran guitarist Parker Lundgren who joined a few years back, stay true to the roots that the band created years ago, at least in the snippets heard in the trailer. The band has been working with producer James “Jimbo” Barton on their forthcoming release, and as the trailer states, the new album will be “coming soon.” Watch Queensryche’s New Album Teaser Trailer [button href=”http://loudwire.com/queensryche-vocalist-todd-la-torre-denies-using-geoff-tate-vocal-tracks-at-live-shows/” title=”Next: Queensryche Vocalist Denies Using Geoff Tate Backing Tracks” align=”center”]

Hatebreed Unleash New Track ‘Put It to the Torch’

Razor & Tie Hatebreed have fired up a brand new track from their forthcoming sixth album ‘The Divinity of Purpose.’ The tune, ‘Put it to the Torch,’ is a compact, short and to the point song that we’ve come to expect from this Connecticut hardcore institution. The band released the song with an accompanying lyric video (watch below). The track is just two minutes and 12 seconds, so the ‘Breed get in and get out, making its point with chugga chugga, caveman riffs and Jamey Jasta’s fist-pumping, positive lyrical affirmations about putting all the BS to the torch and letting it burn, baby, burn! Jamey Jasta commented on the tune, saying, “I’m pumped for everyone to check out our new song. Thanks to all of our fans for the continuous support! We’re super excited to release new music and hit the road hard in 2013!” ‘The Divinity of Purpose’ drops on Jan. 29. But ‘Put it to the Torch’ is certainly a satisfying taste of what’s to come. It certainly heats up the cold winter months.
