Praise be to our intergalactic lords and masters of GWAR , as the alien metallers have announced a second leg of their ‘Fate or Chaos’ tour. The string of U.S. dates will be shared with the bands Warbeast and Wilson, who will open for GWAR during the 16-date tour. GWAR launched their ‘Fate or Chaos’ tour in late 2012, bringing DevilDriver, Cancer Bats and Legacy of Disorder along for the ride, resulting in a solid bill of acts. The quality continues this April when the traveling freak show begins again. GWAR front freak Oderus Urungus put down his crack pipe for a moment to lend us his thoughts about the future dates: As you humans amuse yourself with your mundane holidays, it has been a time of intense activity for GWAR, as we record our 13th studio album– the first one with our new Scumdog brother, Pustulus Maximus! We begin this years festivities with the second and final leg of our Fate or Chaos tour, so everybody who missed the first leg can see Cyber-Jesus get his f—ing ass handed to him. Then it’s back in the studio to work on all the hulking war machines we shall need on our devastating, brand-spanking new tour, after the album drops at the end of the summer! Metalkult Kyng Forced to Pull Out of Tour With Clutch Due to Injured Band Member
February 11th, 2013 Metalkult Stephanie Cabral California rock trio Kyng are known as road warriors but they have been forced to drop off their most recent trek with Clutch due to an injury sustained by their bassist Tony Castaneda. Castaneda was involved in an unfortunate auto accident and this unexpected situation will also delay Kyng’s plans to record their sophomore follow up to their debut ‘Trampled Sun’ with producer Jim Rota (Fireball Ministry, Sound City), and Andrew Alekel in Los Angeles this spring. Although the injury has affected the band’s touring schedule and recording plans, Kyng will continue the process of working on their forthcoming record with a planned release for this Summer. The Casualties, Goatwhore + Havok Announce 2013 U.S. Tour Dates
February 1st, 2013 Metalkult Street punk mainstays the Casualties and extreme metal mavens Goatwhore have teamed up for a short string of tour dates. Bringing Havok along for the ride, this lineup is a seriously strong addition of dates to the previously announced sturdy grouping of Goatwhore touring with 3 Inches of Blood, Revocation and Ramming Speed to follow. Goatwhore have been developing a reputation as one of metal’s hardest working bands for over 15 years now. Created by Acid Bath guitarist Sammy Duet and Soilent Green vocalist Ben Falgoust in 1997, it seems like the band has never left the road since their inception, having toured with Lock Up , High on Fire and Hate Eternal , among others in 2012, it’s likely that almost anyone who frequents metal shows has seen Goatwhore in action. The New Orleans group also made our 10 Best Metal Albums of 2012 list with ‘Blood for the Master.’ The Casualties are also well-respected road dogs, having toured all around the world since they began jamming together in 1990. The New York punkers came out with their ninth studio album, ‘Resistance,’ last year, and guitarist Jake Kolatis and bassist Rick Lopez provided us with one of our most memorable video interviews ever. January 29th, 2013 Metalkult Orgymusic.com Orgy continue their return to the music scene, as the band just revealed dates for their 2013 ‘Wide Awake and Dead’ North American tour. The trek launches March 2 in Phoenix and continues through an April 2 finale in Lincolnshire, Illinois. Joining Orgy on the tour will be upstart acts Vampires Everywhere and Davey Suicide. In late 2010, Orgy’s original lineup underwent a shakeup with singer Jay Gordon retaining the rights to the name and restocking the band with new musicians. In the time since, Gordon and new Orgy members Nic Speck (bass), Jamie Miller (drums), Carlton Bost and Ashburn Miller (guitars) have sparingly toured and ducked into the studio to record the recent single, ‘ Grime of the Century .’ The band also released a video for the track last fall. In the downtime between touring, the group has been working on a new album and while details have yet to be revealed on the forthcoming disc, the return to the road is a good sign that more music may be coming from the band fairly soon. January 25th, 2013 Metalkult 2013 North American Tour Here comes yet another solid metal tour for 2013! New-school heavy metal heroes 3 Inches of Blood are set to hit the road with blackened death merchants Goatwhore to co-headline a North American tour starting April 10 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Near the end of the duo’s string of dates, technical death metal band Revocation and heavy metal newcomers Ramming Speed will hop on to increase the tour’s overall awesomeness. The nearly month-long tour includes a ton of Canadian dates, so metalheads north of the boarder will have plenty of chances to witness the brutality in person. After the April 10 starting date in Vancouver, the tour will venture down to the U.S. before heading back to Canada once again at the halfway point, finally capping off the dates May 4 in Cleveland. 3 Inches of Blood and Goatwhore have also revealed that they’ll be playing the 2013 New England Metal and Hardcore Festival on April 20, adding a new sonic dimension to the already must-see Worchester, Mass. institution. January 25th, 2013 Metalkult Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com The new year is bringing a new Black Sabbath album, their first original disc with Ozzy Osbourne since 1978′s ‘Never Say Die!’ Though the group was unable to work out their contract dispute with drummer Bill Ward , they’re forging ahead with the new music and their first extended touring since regrouping. Bassist Geezer Butler addressed the upcoming disc as well as the band’s drummer situation in a video interview with 96.7 KCAL Rocks . According to Butler, the ‘ 13 ‘ disc has a familiar feel. He explains, “It’s sort of got the feel of the first three albums — back to the basic rawness. And the lyrics are very … they’re just about life … life and death and doom and everything else. You get Prozac with every album.” The bassist revealed that even though the members are very familiar with each other, this was a different recording process as all of the members were completely sober. “It’s been more professional in that way,” says Butler. “We’ve stuck to a schedule every day. We’d go in at one o’clock and finish at six, just to keep everything fresh. Five hours a day — that’s it.” As for the decision to invite Rage Against the Machine ‘s Brad Wilk to play drums on the effort, Butler credits that call to producer Rick Rubin. “He didn’t want a typical heavy metal drummer on the album,” says Butler. “It’s not really a heavy metal album. It’s more of a rock … heavy rock. And Rick Rubin suggested Brad cause he’s more in the vein of Bill Ward. So we jammed with him and he sounded great with the stuff, so we went with that … It’s sort of back to the way we used to be in the ’70s. That’s his feel — sort of a jazzy, bluesy feel to him, and that’s the way the music is now. It was great working with him.” Though the band employed Wilk in the studio and Tommy Clufetos when touring last year, Butler revealed that they hadn’t decided on a touring drummer for this year’s dates. The trek launches April 12 in Denver at the Fillmore and continues through a May 22 finale at Milwaukee’s Eagles Ballroom. Bullet for My Valentine will be joined on the run by the previously revealed Halestorm and Young Guns , as well as newly announced upstarts Stars in Stereo. Tickets for the tour go on sale this Friday (Jan. 25). Bullet for My Valentine’s Matt Tuck says, “We’re super stoked to be touring America again. We’re going to be bringing the big hits and big guns. With the new album (‘ Temper Temper ‘), our fourth, we’ve got loads of songs to choose from.
