Liz Ramanand, Loudwire / Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Buckcherry are set out to hit the road with Kid Rock for a U.S. arena tour across in support of their upcoming album ‘Confessions,’ due February 19. When we recently spoke with Buckcherry frontman Josh Todd he reminisced about the last time he toured with Kid Rock. “We toured with him back on our first record with Fuel and Kid Rock’s awesome,” Todd told Loudwire. “I remember the first time I met him, it was at the Sapphire Supper Club in Florida this little place and I think he was in an RV at the time – this was before ‘Bawitdaba’ took off.” Todd adds, “He just remained the same guy from then to now and that’s why I really like him. He’s just a cool guy, he’s my type of person and we’re all really looking forward to playing with him. He just does what he wants to do and that’s what Buckcherry’s all about so I think it’s a perfect combination, a rocking tour.” The singer and father also spoke about the one thing he had to have on tour with him. “I got into this thing where my youngest daughter — if I have something of hers, it’s good luck to me.” He continues, “I have this little skull barrette she used to wear and that’s always in my toiletries bag where my Q-Tips are. So every day I have to open it up to use a Q-Tip, I see it and I smile and I think about her and just feel good.” The Buckcherry / Kid Rock tour kicks off Feb. 2 in Kansas City, Mo. Dave Mustaine-Designed Jackson Y2KV Guitar Auctioned for $11K

eBay There are definitely some avid Dave Mustaine fans out there and one of them just shelled out just over $11,000 to own an ultra rare prototype Jackson Y2KV guitar that was specifically created for the Megadeth leader. Mustaine signed off on the design and it was delivered to him on Dec. 23, 1998. The guitarist was proud enough of the instrument to pose with it on the cover of Guitar magazine in 1999. The magazine photo, along with the original guitar order form and snapshots of the instrument, can be viewed at the eBay auction site here . This was the first guitar with the final 3+3 Y2KV head and was branded with the Jackson logo on the headstock. It features dot inlays, a rosewood fingerboard, alternate knobs and a blade switch. While the body shape wasn’t quite finalized, this was the first approved prototype by Mustaine, used as a reference for the final prototype. The guitar comes with Seymour Duncan JB-TB bridge and JB SH-4 neck pickups and well as a Tune-o-Matic string through body bridge and Schaller tuners. The Megadeth frontman designed the guitar as his vision of a less-aggressive, retro-looking flying V, which was a bit of a contrast to his usual King V that he was playing at the time. The guitar was primarily used during the support of the ‘Risk’ and ‘The World Needs a Hero’ records. The winning bidder, who submitted an $11,300 bid, will also receive a signed certificate of authenticity in return for their payment. Machine Head’s Robb Flynn Continues Acoustic Fascination With Solo Shows

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Machine Head ‘s Robb Flynn has gotten a taste of playing acoustic over the last couple of months and he’s anxious to work in a few more performances. As such, the singer-guitarist has booked four acoustic performances this coming week in California. Flynn recently broke out the acoustic guitar for his collaborative performance of the Black Sabbath classic ‘Die Young’ at the Mitch Lucker Memorial Concert . The vocalist joined members of Suicide Silence in saluting their late vocalist by singing the track. He stated, “I was surprisingly nervous, maybe because it was the first time playing it live, maybe not being able to rely on my usual bravado/attitude/’roar’ was a bit daunting. It was three acoustics and a vocal, naked and all about the passion.” Emboldened by the experience, Flynn agreed to perform acoustically again at the recent Tony La Russa Animal Rescue Foundation benefit . This time he tried out a pair of tracks — the aforementioned ‘Die Young’ and a reworked acoustic version of ‘Darkness Within.” The vocalist stated of the experience, “‘Die Young’ went down good. I sang the end a lot better than at the Mitch [Lucker] benefit, and then came time for the debut of the acoustic version of ‘Darkness [Within],’ just me and an acoustic, no sing-alongs, no band to kick in the heavy — a new version I had never played live. It worked, it totally worked. I nailed most of it, was a little flat in some parts at the very end, but overall it felt good and I was proud of myself for taking up the challenge.” Feeling good about his recent acoustic attempts, the Machine Head leader will now play full acoustic sets for the four newly-announced shows. The set list is expected to include a mixture of cover songs and reworked Machine Head favorites. All the shows are in the southern California vicinity, coinciding with the various Machine Head members’ upcoming appearances at the NAMM convention . Flynn, in particular, will be playing an acoustic performance at Epiphone Booth Friday (Jan. 25) at 4PM PT, and he’ll join Phil Demmel in a signing session at the EMG Booth at 11AM PT Saturday (Jan. 26) Robb Flynn Acoustic Shows: 1/21 — Hollywood, Calif. — On the Rox 1/23 — Riverside, Calif. — Mission Tobacco Lounge 1/24 — San Diego, Calif. — Brick by Brick 1/26 — Fullerton, Calif. — Slidebar Rock-N-Roll Kitchen [button href=”http://loudwire.com/machine-head-robb-flynn-hernia-surgery-new-live-album-2013-plans/” title=”Next: Robb Flynn Discusses Hernia Surgery + 2013 Plans” align=”center”]

Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players Rock the Sundance Film Festival

Jason Merritt, Getty Images Dave Grohl ‘s ‘Sound City’ documentary has enjoyed its first film festival screening and the singer topped it off with a concert that Sundance Film Festival goers will be buzzing about for years to come. Rolling Stone reports that Grohl’s heavily hyped Sound City Players show clocked in at over three hours, with 17 musicians taking turns on the stage enjoying their time with the Park City, Utah crowd. Grohl broke down the evening into mini-sets, with his Foo Fighters bandmates serving as the de facto house band for a majority of the night. Grohl also had a chance to pay homage to some of his collaborators, discussing the first time he heard Fear’s Lee Ving and knowing that he wanted to be a musician or talking about jamming to Cheap Trick ‘s ‘Surrender’ as a drunk sixteen-year-old. The evening also featured extended sets with Rick Springfield, Stevie Nicks and John Fogerty , while Slipknot ‘s Corey Taylor joined Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen for some of the guitarist’s tracks. In addition, Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk, Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic , Queens of the Stone Age ‘s Alain Johannes and Masters of Reality’s Chris Goss shuffled in and out during the proceedings. Speaking at the film’s premiere about the ‘Sound City’ documentary, Grohl told the audience, “I consider this to be the most important thing I’ve ever done, artistically, of all the albums I’ve made, of all the bands I’ve had the pleasure of being in. I really feel like the ‘Sound City’ movie, its intention is to inspire the next generation of kids to fall in love with music as much as I did.” As to whether or not directing is an experience he would like to repeat, the musician coyly responded, “I started the Foo Fighters as a hobby, and that was 20 years ago.” [button href=”http://loudwire.com/dave-grohl-sound-city-players-perform-after-los-angeles-film-premiere/” title=”Next: Dave Grohl to Bring Sound City Players to Los Angeles Premiere” align=”center”]

Tom Morello Reveals Identity of ‘How I Could Just Kill a Man’ Video’s Naked Guy

Kevin Winter, Getty Images Rage Against the Machine ‘s Tom Morello has continued his video series where he answers fan questions and in his latest installment he revealed a long-secret piece of trivia from the band’s history — the identity of the naked guy in the ‘How I Could Just Kill a Man’ video. In the clip, the offending naked guy is briefly shown standing next to singer Zack de la Rocha, and more than a few fans have asked how that piece of video footage found its way into the clip and why. Morello revealed, “It was a friend of ours who toured with us named MJ Plenty and at the time on that particular tour we were doing this grim, I wouldn’t call it hazing, but we had this outstanding $250 per diem money that was always sitting on the desk. And then someone in the band or someone in the crew would come up with a different task and if you did the task you got the $250.” The guitarist recalls that Plenty accepted the bet, which for that night entailed him going onstage naked, with a few other conditions that needed to be met to achieve the goal. Morello says, “He’s not just naked, he’s naked with his wiener tucked. It you do it frame-by-frame, you’ll see that he has a wiener-tuck going on. And I’m not sure if he’s singing the Maynard [James Keenan] part of ‘Know Your Enemy’ or if he’s just onstage during that part of ‘Know Your Enemy’ while Zack is singing to him, but part of the deal was that he couldn’t laugh. He couldn’t break character, he had to be … stoic. He did it. He got the $250 and he is forever immortalized in the ‘How I Could Just Kill a Man’ video.” With Rage pretty much on break at this point after reissuing a 20th anniversary edition of their debut album last year, Morello is finding other things to keep him occupied. The guitarist says he’s currently working on a new Nightwatchman album and will play a show at New York City’s Lincoln Center Feb. 16. In addition, it was just confirmed that Morello will sit in with Bruce Springsteen ‘s E Street Band during their Australian trek as Steven Van Zandt has requested time off to shoot his TV series, ‘Lilyhammer.’ Watch Rage Against the Machine’s ‘How I Could Just Kill a Man’ Video [button href=”http://loudwire.com/best-rage-against-the-machine-songs/” title=”Next: 10 Best Rage Against the Machine Songs” align=”center”]

Three Days Grace Share Intimate Details of Singer Adam Gontier’s Departure

Ethan Miller, Getty Images The recent exit of Three Days Grace singer Adam Gontier from the group shocked many in the music industry, but probably no one more than the rest of his bandmates. After offering a very brief statement on Gontier’s exit and revealing that My Darkest Days frontman Matt Walst would be filling in on their upcoming tour with Shinedown, more and more details have begun to leak out. Initially it was stated that a “health issue” was part of the reason for Gontier’s sudden exit , but the vocalist later told fans that he had not suffered a relapse in his sobriety and that he had decided the time had come to “evolve on his own terms.” For their part, Three Days Grace issued another statement after the initial posting stating that they were shocked to hear the news, but were committed to their tour and still felt a passion for what they were doing. Not soon after his exit, it was revealed that Gontier was planning a solo show at a New York City benefit on Jan. 17, which raised a few more eyebrows. Having some time to deal with the aftermath of Gontier’s exit, the group has decided to let fans in on the timeline of the singer’s departure and today (Jan. 16)  offered a Facebook posting with more intimate details about the split. It reads as follows: It had been our desire to keep an internal band matter just that, internal. However, after public statements by Adam we feel the need to give our fans the facts. Here’s the exact timeline of events over the past few weeks. On December 21, 2012, Neil and Brad (via email), our manager and business manager (via federal express) received a letter from Adam’s lawyer stating, “Please be advised effective immediately Adam is terminating his involvement with the band Three Days Grace. Adam has been wrestling with a health issue, outlined in the attached letter (a doctor’s letter dated December 14), which would have precluded him from touring with the band in 2013 and he wants the group to continue moving forward as they see fit while not holding them back.” As you can imagine, this came as a complete shock to us. We had just played a series of shows in Hartford and Peterborough the preceding week with no mention from Adam of any health issues or that this resignation letter was coming. We had no idea then that the December 15th Hartford show (which we played one day after the date of the doctor’s note attached to Adam’s lawyer’s letter) would be our final show with Adam as lead singer. After receiving Adam’s lawyer’s letter, Brad sent Adam a text offering to get together to make sure that Adam’s decision was in fact the decision he wanted to make, a final decision, and to talk through any issues. As Brad said, “It would suck to end a twenty year relationship through a lawyer.” Brad’s invitation was declined by Adam via a text stating, “My decision is 100%. My relationship with Three Days Grace is over.” We were then surprised to learn that even though we were told on December 21st that Adam was not able to tour with the band due to health concerns, he apparently planned on participating in a show on January 17 in New York City, as a solo artist. How would you feel if you were in our shoes? Someone you had known for 20 years, whom you had grown up with, gone through ups and downs with, shared dreams with, ends that relationship as if you had known him for a single day with a letter from a lawyer. With a new album and new tour about to begin, and music that everyone in the band is proud to play and promote, we were quickly left to come up with a way to continue what we started. We had a tour for “Transit of Venus” scheduled to start in a month, and we felt we owed it to our fans and ourselves to go through with it. As we have said before, our fans are the best. You have stood with us through good times and bad times and you are the reason we do what we do. We appreciate more than we can say in words the support we have received during this time. This is not about choosing sides or deciding who’s right or who’s wrong. This is about being honest with you. Adam has made his choice and we wish him well. We care about our band, and we care about honouring our commitments to you, the fans. Three Days Grace has never been about one single band member and it never will be. After touring is complete, we will move forward. In what shape and form, that is yet to be determined. What we can tell you is that and are excited to rock live and we can’t wait to see you all on the road. Tremonti Unveil Startling ‘Wish You Well’ Video

YouTube Tremonti left fans contemplating what was to come with a teaser for the ‘Wish You Well’ video earlier this week and now that the clip has arrived, it is every bit as spooky as you would expect. The video alternates between Tremonti and his band jamming their latest single and a young boy rocking out on his guitar from a rooftop. How the boy got there is what makes the clip interesting, as the video starts with a camera monitoring the boy playing guitar in a near abandoned room. After a few moments a hulking trench-coated man knocks on the door and leads the stunned youth up the stairs to the rooftop. After whispering something to the boy, then gesturing that he play to his surroundings, the man steps away and lets the boy jam. The rest of the clip finds interspersed, quick-cutting images of the man traveling from house to house and his journey to finding the young boy. The end of the video starts almost as it began with the man arriving at the boy’s door and knocking, though this time we see the apartment number 12. Could this be a clue to something bigger? Tremonti did tease a code in his trailer for the new video, but how does the number figure into the coordinates? It remains to be seen, but a press release on the video stated that the lead up to the clip was just a small part of a future design that the guitarist and his band have in store for their fan base. Stay tuned for more from Tremonti, but in the interim catch the ‘Wish You Well’ video below.
