Trent Reznor Reveals New Nine Inch Nails Material ‘In the Works’

Sean Gardner, Getty Images The news just keeps getting better for fans of Trent Reznor . While he has received many accolades for his soundtrack work over the last couple of years, fans have been longing for the return of Nine Inch Nails . Now comes word from Reznor himself that Nine Inch Nails are definitely back in action and working on new material. Reznor recently revealed that his How to Destroy Angels project would be arriving with new music, which led to questions about if and when the frontman would revive the band where he made his musical name. The Nine Inch Nails mastermind tells  Rolling Stone  in a new interview, “All signs point to yes. Yeah, there will be new music. There are some things in the works.” Not only could fans potentially see a new album or singles, but Reznor, who retired Nine Inch Nails from touring in 2009, revealed that there may be some shows, as well. When asked about the idea of performing, he explained, “Yeah, if it feels right. It’s a possibility. I never said that that wasn’t going to happen, just that it couldn’t go on as it was. Having a few years doing other things, I’ve enjoyed [them] and I’m enjoying doing How to Destroy Angels, and there will be a place for stuff that falls in the Nine Inch Nails column of things. It’s a different kind of work. Stay tuned. We’ll see what happens.” In other news, but Reznor has been working with the Beats by Dre company on “a number of very interesting projects.” He also provided the soundtrack to the new video game, ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops.’ As for How to Destroy Angels, we know that will come first as they’ve already revealed a Nov. 13 release for the ‘ An Omen ‘ EP. The group, which also features Reznor’s wife Mariqueen Maandig and his music composing partner Atticus Ross, are also working on a full-length album that will follow early next year. Korn’s Munky Says Next Album Features More Guitar, Less Dubstep

Ethan Miller, Getty Images Korn may have revitalized their career somewhat with the dubstep heavy ‘The Path of Totality’ album, but what does that mean for their next disc? Guitarist James “Munky’ Shaffer tells the Phoenix New Times that he envisions the return of more guitar-heavy music, though electronics will still factor in. He stated about the upcoming disc, “I wouldn’t say it’s a 180 from the last album, but we’re definitely taking a different approach. We’re not going with the dubstep style, but we are using a lot of interesting recording techniques.” When asked if it meant a return to a heavier Korn sound, the guitarist added, “I think it will be. I think once Jonathan [Davis] puts vocals on it, it has … it’s more melodic and the guitars are more aggressive and much more in your face. I think what we did before was bold and took a lot of balls, in regards to the album devoted entirely to dubstep. To me it’s very much a Korn album, but I want to feature more guitar on this album, on the one we’re writing right now.” Munky added that the band still has “one foot in the electronic [style],” but he says it’s not necessarily the dubstep sound and that there will be a fresh approach to the guitar riffs. The guitarist says when the idea of initially approaching their music in a dubstep manner came up, he was on board as he felt it was time to shake things up. He added, “We’ve always been a band that’s tried to reinvent themselves and innovate what we do, I think. We were at the point in our career you know, our tenth album, [and it was] like, let’s go for it. And if we don’t like it, we don’t have to put it out.” Munky says the band is currently writing and working on new music, but no timeline has been set for the release of their next album. Bullet for My Valentine Announce New Album Title + Release Date

Sony Bullet for My Valentine are finally picking things up again with the announcement that their next album has a title — ‘Temper Temper’ — and also has a Feb. 11 release date. Not so coincidentally, Bullet for My Valentine also has a new single called ‘Temper Temper’ as well. It recently debuted online and is expected to arrive as a download next month. The ‘Temper Temper’ album finds the band reuniting with Don Gilmore, the producer behind their 2010 release ‘Fever.’ Earlier this year, singer Matt Tuck revealed that the band had been working on new music in Thailand . It’s been a pretty busy year for Tuck, who has also spent time recording and touring with his new project, AxeWound . The group recently issued their debut disc, ‘Vultures.’ That, combined with the fact that guitarist Michael “Padge” Paget recently underwent back surgery , may have had something to do with the album arriving in 2013 rather than this year. Paget had his surgery after the album was complete, and has been spending his time recuperating. NME reports that Bullet for My Valentine will hit the road shortly after the album’s release as four shows have already been announced in their native U.K. Stops include Birmingham’s O2 Academy (March 12), Glasgow’s O2 Academy (March 13), Manchester’s O2 Apollo (March 15), and London’s Roundhouse (March 17). Deftones’ Chino Moreno Offers Update on His Many Side Projects

Mark Metcalfe, Getty Images Chino Moreno is a busy man with a thirst for great music, and the Deftones vocalist says that while his band and the ‘ Koi No Yokan ‘ album are his main priorities, he’s also keeping himself occupied with various side projects in his spare time. Of Palms , the band that also features a number of Isis members, Moreno told Consequence of Sound’s Rock It Out Blog , “They recorded this music a long time ago, almost a year ago, so musically it’s been its own thing and I only got asked to do vocals on it not too long ago by my buddy Aaron [Harris], he’s the drummer. It’s not really a thing I rush on. Any of the projects I do, I don’t have to do them. I do them strictly because it’s fun to make music with friends and to do that.” Moreno says he tentatively envisions a spring release. The vocalist also revealed that there will be a third EP coming from ††† (pronounced “Crosses”) before a full-length is released, but because of his schedule, it likely won’t arrive until the band has some time when they can all do something. Moreno also suggested that Team Sleep has quietly been working on new music. He revealed, “Me and Todd [Wilkinson], our guitar player, we’ve been recording stuff back and forth, and [DJ] Crook too actually, he just gave me some beats last week when I was in San Francisco and so there’s stuff being put together.” The singer added that there’s plenty of material that had never been released, but like the other side projects, it was something that was fun and music would eventually come when the time is right. One project you likely won’t see Moreno part of again was his collaboration with Bassnectar. When asked if he was open for more, the vocalist revealed, “Not at all … Why did I do it? Because he asked me to do it. He’s a fan of ours and a friend of ours and I got paid a lot of money to do it for a soundtrack. It’s as simple as that, you know?” Watch Chino Moreno Discuss Deftones + His Side Projects [button href=”http://loudwire.com/best-deftones-songs/” title=”Next: 10 Best Deftones Songs” align=”center”]
