Corey Taylor Discusses Slipknot’s Future, Dave Mustaine + Phil Anselmo

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Slipknot / Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor has heard the question before, and he’s getting a little tired about those asking about Slipknot’s future . The vocalist tells Metal Sucks that he feels no matter how often he explains his stance on the band’s continuation, it’s not truly taken to heart. Taylor tells Metal Sucks, “It’s like the more we try to explain it, no one hears the answer. It’s like they’re waiting for the answer they want to hear. We go out of our way to make sure our fans know everything, but at the end of the day, the fans have got to trust us. The worse it gets, the more we want to push away — we’re still dealing with the fact that our brother is dead. It can get hectic when all that people want to know about is when we’re getting back together. Don’t they realize that we’re never, really, ever going to get back together? One of our founding members is gone. It’ll never be the same, y’know? People don’t understand it. I try not to be bitter and lash out, but it’s getting harder and harder. Brutal, man.” During his interview, Taylor weighed in on several other topics, including the controversial political commentaries of Megadeth ‘s Dave Mustaine . The singer says, “The thing that bothers me is no one should ever put a microphone in front of Dave Mustaine’s face unless he’s on stage. Every time he says something, I cringe. People have asked me — there was this big thing on Twitter where people we’re going, ‘Dave Mustaine makes me ashamed to be a metalhead,’ and I’m like, ‘Screw that! For every Mustaine, there’s a Hetfield . They’re his beliefs, let him talk s— all he wants, and don’t let him discourage you.’ Just because there’s one guy who doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about, doesn’t mean there aren’t twenty more who do know.” Taylor also revealed that he’s doing his best to stay healthy on the road, though his register seems to get lower as the years go on. When asked if he thought he was morphing into Pantera ‘s Phil Anselmo , Taylor explained, “Umm… not really, no. I can walk upright, so I’m fine. I think Phil has a lot more problems than a deep voice, let’s put it that way. But my voice has been the same timbre for 15 years, so I’m not worried. Plus, I don’t drink any more — I don’t smoke any less, but I don’t drink anymore, so I’m trying to stay as healthy as I can.” These days, you can hear Taylor and his low register fronting Stone Sour on their newly released, ‘ House of Gold & Bones, Pt. 1 ‘ album. The Acacia Strain vs. Ill Nino – Death Match

Rise / Victory With another victory claimed by the Acacia Strain , the band have racked up three consecutive wins in Loudwire’s Death Match. With one more, the band’s track ‘Victims of the Cave’ will be declared immortal in our Death Match Hall of Fame. The Acacia Strain have managed to put away Parkway Drive, Pig Destroyer and Fear Factory, but their greatest challenge lies in this final bout. Ill Nino recently recruited Emmure vocalist Frankie Palmeri to contribute to the new track ‘La Epidemia.’ The track from Ill Nino’s sixth full-length album uses Palmeri to explore a heavier sound, with the dual vocal attack giving the song a more pulverizing appeal. Ill Nino’s ‘Epidemia’ album was released in October through Victory Records. Can the Acacia Strain pull off one final victory to cement their place in the Death Match Hall of Fame? Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl Rejoins Queens of the Stone Age for Next Album

Mark Mainz / Jonathan Wood, Getty Images We now know what Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is going to do with at least part of his hiatus , as it’s been revealed that he’s returned to the drumkit to play on the next Queens of the Stone Age album. Queens leader Josh Homme confirmed the news to BBC Radio . For further proof, the band posted a mixing board photo on their Facebook page  (see below) showing the knobs for Homme’s guitar and Grohl’s drums. With the addition of Grohl, that means that longtime drummer Joey Castillo has exited the band . Homme confirmed Castillo’s exit during his appearance on BBC Radio. Incidentally, Castillo joined the group following the 2002 album ‘Songs for the Deaf,’ which featured Grohl on drums. Grohl and Homme have a longtime friendship and musical connection that also included their partnership in the band Them Crooked Vultures . Homme revealed earlier this year that the band had returned to recording after several stops and starts in recent years. The band’s sixth studio album will be the follow-up to their 2007 effort, ‘Era Vulgaris.’ The group had reportedly worked on material dating as far back as 2008, and a supposed 2011 release never came to fruition. Though an official release date has not been announced, a new album is expected in 2013 and the group has already booked appearances at Lollapalooza Brazil and Chile and at the Download Festival . In addition to his upcoming plans with Queens of the Stone Age, Dave Grohl is in the process of wrapping up his ‘ Sound City ‘ documentary, based on the popular Los Angeles recording studio and featuring many top names in rock that have recorded there over the years. Avenged Sevenfold Get Mellow Makeover for New Lullaby Disc

Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star When Avenged Sevenfold penned the song ‘Nightmare,’ they probably weren’t anticipating rocking babies to sleep with it, but a new take on some of their most popular tracks are making them fit for the younger, diaper-sporting crowd. Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star has just released ‘Lullaby Versions of Avenged Sevenfold,’ which they describe as “lush instrumental versions” of the band’s music. The latest edition of their modern music meets lullaby creations, this could be the perfect way to introduce the younger crowd to the musical world of Avenged Sevenfold, or Avenged Sevenfold light, as the case may be. Called “lullabies for all ages,” these songs are not geared toward just the tots. They can also be implemented for yoga, sleep therapy, or just kicking back and relaxing while a mellow version of ‘Bat Country’ swirls through the senses. The twelve song disc covers songs throughout their career, primarily from their last few discs from ‘Beast and the Harlot’ to the aptly titled ‘Welcome to the Family.’ The disc is available on iTunes ; check out the full track listing below. ‘Lullaby Versions of Avenged Sevenfold’  Track listing: ‘Dear God’ ‘Buried Alive’ ‘Nightmare’ ‘Afterlife’ ‘Carry On’ ‘So Far Away’ ‘Welcome to the Family’ ‘Seize the Day’ ‘Beast and the Harlot’ ‘A Little Piece of Heaven’ ‘Almost Easy’ ‘Country’ [button href=”http://loudwire.com/avenged-sevenfold-members-guest-on-machine-gun-kelly-track/” title=”Avenged Sevenfold Members Guest on Machine Gun Kelly Track” align=”center”]

Green Day Offer Free Stream of ‘¡Dos!’ Album

Reprise Green Day may be out of commission at the moment while singer Billie Joe Armstrong continues his substance abuse rehab, but you would never know it from how prominently they’ve kept fans enthralled with new music. That continues with the new stream of the ‘ ¡Dos! ‘ album on RollingStone.com, a full week ahead of its Nov. 13 release. The high-energy, upbeat disc will be a solid one for the band once they finally do return to the road. ‘F— Time’ features some Georgia Satellites-like good time guitar licks; ‘Stop When the Red Lights Flash’ has that infectious vibe that could make it an eventual single; ‘Makeout Party’ has a great garage-rock feel; and ‘Stray Heart’ is just an immediate radio-friendly rocker that’s the perfect choice for the lead single. The full ‘¡Dos!’ disc drops next Tuesday (Nov. 13) and now competes with the ‘¡Uno!’ album released earlier this year for listeners’ full attention. The third disc in the trilogy, ‘ ¡Tre! ,’ was recently pushed forward to a Dec. 11 release after the band realized they would be unable to tour leading up to the album’s original Jan. 15 street date. Green Day fans can also check out the new ‘ Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 ‘ soundtrack song ‘ The Forgotten ,’ which recently debuted and will also turn up on the ‘¡Tre!’ album.
