Warner Bros. / EA Linkin Park recently teamed with the EA video game ‘Medal of Honor Warfighter’ to showcase their latest single, ‘Castle of Glass,’ and the band is now teaming with Loudwire to offer fans the chance to win a great prize package based around the game and the band’s latest album. The prize package includes a copy of ‘Medal of Honor Warfighter’ (in either PlayStation or Xbox format), Linkin Park’s current CD, ‘Living Things,’ a Linkin Park t-shirt and a ‘Medal of Honor’ / Linkin Park digital badge. Razor & Tie Hatebreed have fired up a brand new track from their forthcoming sixth album ‘The Divinity of Purpose.’ The tune, ‘Put it to the Torch,’ is a compact, short and to the point song that we’ve come to expect from this Connecticut hardcore institution. The band released the song with an accompanying lyric video (watch below). The track is just two minutes and 12 seconds, so the ‘Breed get in and get out, making its point with chugga chugga, caveman riffs and Jamey Jasta’s fist-pumping, positive lyrical affirmations about putting all the BS to the torch and letting it burn, baby, burn! Jamey Jasta commented on the tune, saying, “I’m pumped for everyone to check out our new song. Thanks to all of our fans for the continuous support! We’re super excited to release new music and hit the road hard in 2013!” ‘The Divinity of Purpose’ drops on Jan. 29. But ‘Put it to the Torch’ is certainly a satisfying taste of what’s to come. Frank Micelotta, Getty Images With uncertainty surrounding System of a Down ‘s future recording plans, fans of the band are anxiously awaiting the next offering from Scars on Broadway . Fronted by System singer-guitarist Daron Malakian , Scars on Broadway released one solitary self-titled album in 2008, but according to Malakian, a new Scars effort will likely drop in early 2013. System of a Down drummer John Dolmayan was once a part of Scars on Broadway, having announced his exit from the band in August of this year. Along with his statement of departure, Dolmayan encouraged fans by hyping the upcoming album from the project, “You will definitely hear some Scars on Broadway within the next four or five months … And it’s a good album, by the way.” Although Scars on Broadway consists of a full lineup, Malakian has just revealed that he’s recording the new album completely by himself, playing all instruments, including drums. “It was just this secret, personal thing I wanted to do for myself,” says Malakian. “I didn’t want there to be any hype behind it.” “I could have just recorded music and put it out under my own name,” Malakian tells Revolver magazine. “But I actually want to tour these songs and get behind them. And I was ready to do another Scars On Broadway record. I’ve just been going with the flow, and the flow’s taken me here.” The frontman also discusses how he differentiates possible System material from possible Scars material. “It’s a little tough. Because there are some things that would work for either band. But right now System is just playing live. To get that band back together in the studio means getting four different guys back together, and I don’t know when that will happen. But, let’s just say I do have some ‘rainy day’ songs just in case.” Scars on Broadway are currently in the midst of a North American tour with Deftones . Machinehead1.com Machine Head are having to exit their current tour, at least temporarily, as singer Robb Flynn undergoes emergency surgery to deal with a double inguinal hernia that has become the source of tremendous pain for the frontman. The band was out on tour in support of their ‘ Machine F—ing Head ‘ double live album, and were touring alongside Dethklok , All That Remains and Black Dahlia Murder on the run. But this evening (Nov. 13), the group informed fans that it would miss nine shows on the trek as Flynn recovers from a planned surgery on Wednesday (Nov. 14.). Machine Head released a statement via their website on the matter which read: Machine Head must exit their current North American tour with Dethklok, All That Remains and Black Dahlia Murder due to matters completely beyond their control. Frontman Robb Flynn must have emergency surgery. Flynn had planned to go under the knife in January after completing the tour as he has been playing through the pain of a double inguinal hernia since the tour started in October. He had hoped to continue the tour despite extreme discomfort, but it’s become too difficult to continue on. Flynn will undergo surgery tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 14 in Minneapolis before returning home to California to recover, rest and recuperate. Machine Head will rejoin the tour in Portland, OR. Machine Head extends its regrets to fans, the other bands, and the other crews for having to leave the tour prematurely. Flynn also offered a statement of his own on the matter: I’ve been toughing out an inguinal hernia below my waistline since June of last year, and a few months ago got a second hernia in my nuts. What basically happens is my guts drop into my nuts, and it looks like I have a third testicle (man, I can hear the jokes already!) It hasn’t been that painful, and I’ve gone to the doctor a few times to take care of it, but he said after surgery I probably couldn’t sing for a few weeks, and since that wasn’t going to happen, I scheduled it for January when I had a break. Unfortunately, after the last few shows, my guts have been very swollen and hard to push back in. Yesterday, the pain was excruciating and I went to the emergency room last night. They said that I need surgery. I will be doing my damnedest to rejoin the tour in a couple weeks. Thanks to all the fans, bands, and crew for understanding. I’m determined to see you all soon and finish what has been a great freakin tour! The tour is scheduled to run through Dec. 8 in Atlanta.
