She has reached out to filmmaker Brett Morgen , the man behind the current Rolling Stones documentary ‘Crossfire Hurricane,’ to oversee a project based on the life of the late Nirvana frontman Morgen told the New York Post’s Page Six that he’s already planning out his Cobain documentary with the blessing of Love. He explained, “Courtney is the one that brought me into this. We’ve been trying to find the right time to put this film together and the time is now.” The documentarian went on to add, “Kurt was not only an amazing songwriter and musician, he was an incredible artist and filmmaker. So we are going to do the movie sort of like a third-person autobiography — as if Kurt was around and making a film about his life.” There were recent rumors that Love was interested in telling Cobain’s story on Broadway or as part of a musical film, but she later shot down talk of those projects happening. Reprise New music releases are usually sparse as the calendar year comes to an end. Despite this, there are still some albums, box sets and other releases to pick up this December. Perhaps the most anticipated album the year’s final month will come Dec. 11 when Green Day complete their trilogy with the release of ‘¡Tré!’ The first two albums of the band’s project, ‘¡Uno!’ and ‘¡Dos!’ were met with critical acclaim, and there’s no reason to expect a different reaction to ‘¡Tré!’ Metallica will be releasing their ‘Quebec Magnetic’ DVD/Blu-ray in December. ‘Quebec Magnetic,’ a double DVD and single Blu-ray disc, was recorded during a two-night stint in Quebec City, Canada, in the fall of 2009 during the ‘World Magnetic Tour.’ Bands such as Chevelle , Hinder , KISS , Sully Erna and the Smashing Pumpkins will also be unleashing material. Facebook: Sevendust Sevendust have titled their upcoming album ‘Black Out the Sun,’ according to a recent interview with guitarist Clint Lowery. The band’s upcoming ninth studio album is tentatively slated to drop in April 2013. ‘Black Out the Sun’ was recorded with engineer Mike Ferretti at Architekt Studios in New Jersey. In an interview with Source of the Sound With Wendy Campbell , guitarist Clint Lowery talked about the upcoming record by saying, “It’s a lot of what we do — it’s heavy and it’s got its melodic element in it.” He goes on to say “So if you’re a Sevendust fan, it’s more along the lines of the second and third records we did — it’s kind of like that. It’s got a couple of throwback vibes to it. ‘Animosity’ and ‘Home,’ if I can put those two records together, it would [sound similar to the new CD].” In the same interview, Lowery also stated that the band was in talks of a possible trek with Coal Chamber and Lacuna Coil in early 2013. In Loudwire’s interview with drummer Morgan Rose , he talked about the upcoming disc by saying “I know I’m gonna scream like a banshee on the next record, I don’t know how many more we got left in us – from now on it’s gotta be treated like it’s the last one in my book. I know it’s gonna be real heavy.” ‘Black Out the Sun’ will be the band’s follow-up to their 2010 album ‘Chapter VII: Hope and Sorrow.’ Sevendust will be playing Shiprocked 2012 along with Godsmack , Korn , Finger Death Punch and more. Larry Busacca, Getty Images One of music’s top stories of the week has been Jon Bon Jovi ‘s daughter Stephanie suffering an alleged heroin overdose in a college dorm room. The 19-year-old was rushed to the hospital and held under arrest, ultimately facing numerous charges, but Bon Jovi’s daughter has reportedly been let off the hook. Stephanie Bongiovi, 19, was arrested at Hamilton College in New York, where she and fellow student Ian Grant, 21, were booked for charges of possessing a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and criminal use of drug paraphernalia. Despite being hit with these charges, TMZ is reporting that both parties have been cleared of charges due to the ‘ 911 Good Samaritan ‘ bill that was passed by Governor Cuomo in 2011. The ’911 Good Samaritan’ bill was enacted to help prevent drug overdose deaths and encourage those who witness a potential overdose to help save lives without fearing arrest for drug or alcohol possession. Thus, TMZ writes that the District Attorney has dropped the charges in compliance with the bill. Neither Stephanie nor Jon Bon Jovi have chosen to make any sort of statement regarding the incident.

The band posted a photo (seen below) of an empty stool and a bass guitar where Butler apparently would be setting up shop for the day. If that wasn’t enough, they spelled it out by saying, “Geezer Butler is all set to record some more bass tracks on the new album today.” Guitarist Tony Iommi recently revealed that while the band does intend on having their next album ready by April, recording is still afoot on the disc. Black Sabbath should be in the home stretch though, as not only do they have a specific time frame for the album release, but they’ve started booking tour dates for 2013 , as well. Meanwhile, Black Sabbath fans will have something to tide them over until the new disc arrives, as the group has announced a Dec. 12 release for their ‘Black Sabbath The Vinyl Collection: 1970-1978. The limited edition box set celebrates the iconic albums of the band’s full original lineup. Included in the box set (seen below) are full reproductions of the original album releases, remastered from the band’s personal archives on 180-gram heavyweight vinyl. In addition, the poster from ‘Masters of Reality’ and photo insert book from ‘Volume 4′ will be part of the set.
