Jason Newsted Finishing First Record With New Self-Titled Band

NewstedHeavyMetal.com Jason Newsted recently re-announced his presence online with a new website and followed that with the revelation that he was fronting a new band that also shared his name. Now the former Metallica bassist has checked in online to let fans know that things are moving along quickly and that his band is close to finishing a new record. In his latest Facebook posting , Newsted reveals, “I am very happy in my life now! I have a new band that bears my own name. We’re just finishing our first record. I’m feeling strong again playing bass and singing lead vocals and you all will be hearing it in one month’s time!!! New year, new band, new life!!! Bless you all and I can’t wait to share my music with everyone!!! I’m entrusting all of my friends to get the word out!!! Jason’s back!!!” Speaking about his new band in a recent interview , Newsted stated, “I’ve thought about this for a long time, putting my name on a project other than just coming up with a clever name, like Echobrain or Papa Wheelie or something. We have a lot of cool names for projects, but this is the first time with my name and really trying to get out to the people that I played for by the millions in the past with Metallica.” As for the music, he added, “Whatever it ends up being — if it’s five songs, 20 songs, 50 songs … I don’t even know what the heck I’m gonna do. I have so much music from over the years. I have a bunch of new stuff … I’m just trying to figure out exactly what I wanna unleash on everybody first. That’s kind of what it’s coming down to — the timing of things and how I wanna hit people with it.” In his Facebook posting, Newsted also commented on his time with Metallica, adding, “I want y’all to know that I am ultra proud of my time in the band … I am thankful for the wonderful experiences of our 15 years together and I will always be open to jammin’ with the boys.” [button href=”http://loudwire.com/best-metallica-songs/” title=”Next: 10 Best Metallica Songs” align=”center”]

Buckcherry to Release New Album ‘Confessions’ in Early 2013

Century Media Records After signing with a new record label, Century Media,  Buckcherry have announced they will be releasing a new album. ‘Confessions’ is due in early 2013 via Century Media in the United States and Eleven Seven Music in the rest of the world. ‘Confessions’ is based on the seven deadly sins, and is part of a larger vision that includes a film written by frontman Josh Todd, who based the album’s lyrics on his childhood and transformation into adulthood. “The time has come to finally announce the release of our sixth LP, ‘Confessions,’” says Todd. “This is our coolest album yet and I think a lot of people will relate. If you love BC you are going to get a chance to be part of a great story – join the revolution and let’s rock!” “This is, by far, our most ambitious record,” says guitarist Keith Nelson. “We are very proud of the work we’ve done and we are looking forward to presenting it to our fans.” Buckcherry’s last album, 2010′s ‘All Night Long’ debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 and spawned the singles ‘Dead,’ ‘It’s a Party’ and the title track. Their most successful album was 2006′s platinum selling ’15,’ which featured the major rock hit ‘Crazy Bitch’ and the cross-over smash ‘Sorry.’ Buckcherry will get back on the road soon, appearing in Japan later this month and doing a U.K. tour starting Nov. 20. They have a U.S. date scheduled on Dec. 28 in Mt. Pleasant,  Mich. Watch Metallica + More Perform Live From the Voodoo Festival

Kevin Winter, Getty Images New Orleans is the place to be this weekend for the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience, but even if you’re not anywhere near Louisiana, you can still catch Metallica and more this evening with the Voodoo Festival webstream (which you can watch below). Actual streaming footage from the festival begins today courtesy of Ustream at 1PM ET/10AM PT. Today’s lineup includes such acts as Silversun Pickups , AWOLNATION, Justice, and The Features among others. Metallica’s performance is set for 9:30PM ET/6:30PM PT. Fans can also catch highlights from the Voodoo festival on Fuse TV throughout the day. Metallica were a last minute addition to the Voodoo festival lineup, as original Saturday headliners Green Day bowed out after singer Billie Joe Armstrong ‘s recent admittance to rehab. Guitarist Kirk Hammett stated , “I’m very honored that we’re able to help our friends in Green Day. I wish Billie Joe the best of luck, we’ll do anything to help them out. It’s great to be able to help him out.” Of the event itself, Hammett gushed, “New Orleans during Halloween, I’m really excited about that. I love New Orleans, I love the voodoo folklore, I love the vampire folklore. It should be pretty interesting.” While the band have curtailed their touring for the time being, Voodoo gives the group the perfect showcase in advance of their ‘ Quebec Magnetic ‘ DVD, which is slated for a Dec. 10 release. Lars Ulrich stated earlier this year that he thought it would be 2014 before fans would see a new record, which means studio time will likely take up a good portion of next year. However, Metallica do have plans to headline the Rock in Rio festival and take part in Australia’s Soundwave traveling tour next year. But for now, be sure to check out Metallica and other acts playing today’s Voodoo Arts + Music Experience in the live stream below.
