Reprise Green Day may be out of commission at the moment while singer Billie Joe Armstrong continues his substance abuse rehab, but you would never know it from how prominently they’ve kept fans enthralled with new music. That continues with the new stream of the ‘ ¡Dos! ‘ album on RollingStone.com, a full week ahead of its Nov. 13 release. The high-energy, upbeat disc will be a solid one for the band once they finally do return to the road. ‘F— Time’ features some Georgia Satellites-like good time guitar licks; ‘Stop When the Red Lights Flash’ has that infectious vibe that could make it an eventual single; ‘Makeout Party’ has a great garage-rock feel; and ‘Stray Heart’ is just an immediate radio-friendly rocker that’s the perfect choice for the lead single. The full ‘¡Dos!’ disc drops next Tuesday (Nov. 13) and now competes with the ‘¡Uno!’ album released earlier this year for listeners’ full attention. The third disc in the trilogy, ‘ ¡Tre! ,’ was recently pushed forward to a Dec. 11 release after the band realized they would be unable to tour leading up to the album’s original Jan. 15 street date. Green Day fans can also check out the new ‘ Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 ‘ soundtrack song ‘ The Forgotten ,’ which recently debuted and will also turn up on the ‘¡Tre!’ album. Sony Bullet for My Valentine are finally picking things up again with the announcement that their next album has a title — ‘Temper Temper’ — and also has a Feb. 11 release date. Not so coincidentally, Bullet for My Valentine also has a new single called ‘Temper Temper’ as well. It recently debuted online and is expected to arrive as a download next month. The ‘Temper Temper’ album finds the band reuniting with Don Gilmore, the producer behind their 2010 release ‘Fever.’ Earlier this year, singer Matt Tuck revealed that the band had been working on new music in Thailand . It’s been a pretty busy year for Tuck, who has also spent time recording and touring with his new project, AxeWound . The group recently issued their debut disc, ‘Vultures.’ That, combined with the fact that guitarist Michael “Padge” Paget recently underwent back surgery , may have had something to do with the album arriving in 2013 rather than this year. Paget had his surgery after the album was complete, and has been spending his time recuperating. NME reports that Bullet for My Valentine will hit the road shortly after the album’s release as four shows have already been announced in their native U.K. Stops include Birmingham’s O2 Academy (March 12), Glasgow’s O2 Academy (March 13), Manchester’s O2 Apollo (March 15), and London’s Roundhouse (March 17). Amanda Edwards, Getty Images Trapt had the best of intentions to get fans new music before the end of the year, but they’ve decided to push the ‘ Reborn ‘ collection to a Jan. 22 street date. The disc was initially slated for a Nov. 20 release, but both Amazon and Alternative Addiction note the album release change. The band signed with Epochal Artist Records, and will be releasing the album in association with EMI. The disc is expected to arrive in both standard and deluxe editions, with the latter package including five acoustic versions of songs on the album, plus the previously unreleased fan-favorite track ‘Avelyn.’ Singer Chris Taylor Brown played a large role in the recording of the album, serving as co-producer on the disc with Matt Thorne. He says of the effort, “This record is really a new sound for Trapt. With ‘Reborn’ we really wanted to use new sounds and textures as well as experiment with other techniques we have learned over the years or have heard in our influences. Lyrically, this album is as deep and thoughtful as any album that Trapt has done in the past.” The group is definitely psyched about the single, ‘Bring It,’ and recently shot a video for the song. Photos from the video shoot can be seen here and here . The band knocked out two videos at once, with ‘Love Hate Relationship’ also getting the treatment. Both songs are currently available as a double-single bundle at iTunes . The group is currently out on tour starting to build the buzz for their new record. Their current trek runs through the end of November.
Nuclear Blast Suffocation vocalist Frank Mullen recently stated that after over 20 years of making death metal’s most brutal music, he will be playing a smaller role when it comes to the future of the band. Mullen no longer feels like he can go off on tour for long periods of time, so during future shows, the vocalist will be playing some shows, while a guest vocalist will be used to fill whatever additional dates there may be. This comes as sad news for many Suffocation fans, as Mullen is not only the innovator of the modern death metal guttural, but also a personality beloved by fans. Whether he’s threatening to kill members of the audience through ridiculous means or utilizing the famous Mullen air-chop, the Suffocation vocalist is almost as entertaining as he is brutal. Mullen revealed his diminished role in the band to Horns Up Rocks! earlier this week, but has since given a detailed explanation of his future plans. “I am not leaving Suffocation,” begins Mullen. “Massive one month long touring on my side cannot be done anymore though. When the new album is released next year I will be touring as much as possible to support the album as well as the following year in 2014.” The vocalist continues, “When I was asked that question in the interview I was taken off guard and didn’t really know what my schedule was going to look like next year and wanted to try and answer. I haven’t given much thought to what our touring schedule would look like since we’ve been in the studio recording the new release. So I’m going to be getting out there as much as I can to support the album and get out there in front of the ones who have supported Suffocation over the years, the true fans. So we are going to be supporting this record as soon as it comes out” The other members of Suffocation also commented on the situation. “We have respected this decision that Frank has made, but by no means does this mean Suffocation will ‘replace’ him with new singer or stop touring. Death metal has been good to us, and we feel fortunate with the success we have achieved. For shows or tours he can’t be a part of there will be a well respected, talented, fill in singer, so we as a band can continue to prosper and bring Suffocation to the fans. Bill Robinson (Decrepit Birth) is a good friend of ours and came through during the European tours when Frank was unable to make the shows, but he was just filling in those two times. The fill-in singer will be announced soon, and we promise that our fans will not be let down. We have been fortunate to make a great living playing music, and are willing to continue to give our fans what they want.” Suffocation are planning to release their seventh full-length album, ‘The Pinnacle of Bedlam’ sometime in early 2013.
Victory Records Swedish metal outfit Sister Sin have unleashed their brand new album ‘Now and Forever’ via Victory Records, and the disc holds true to the band’s rough and tough sound with the power to back it up. The disc starts off with ‘MMXII,’ Roman numerals for ’2012,’ then turns into the fast paced anthem ‘End of the Line,’ which happens to be the lead single off of the new record. “ F— you / F—k them and f—k the world, too / Do I look like some b—- to you ” is just the beginning of ‘Fight Song,’ one of the most raw and hard hitting tracks on ‘Now and Forever.’ The momentum and pace of the entire record continues to ascend when and takes the listeners to new heights with hard-rocking, balls-out tracks such as ‘In It for Life,’ ‘Hearts of Cold’ and ‘Hang ‘Em High.’ Frontwoman Liv Jagrell can croon and yell with the best of them and her no-nonsense, rough-around-the-edge deliverance of lyrics is not to be messed with. While the crunchy riffs, pounding bass lines and thunderously swift drum patterns of her talented bandmates further heighten the energy of the album. Sister Sin’s tunes have an old-school vibe with a refreshing new melodic twist. This balance is evident in tracks like ‘The Chosen Few,’ ‘I’m Not You,’ ‘Running Low’ and ‘Shades of Black.’ ‘Now and Forever’ ends with the incredible piano-driven ballad ‘Morning After,’ beautifully sung by Jagrell as she shows off yet another facet of her vocal abilities. In our exclusive interview , Jagrell says that to her the title of the album means, “We are here now and hopefully forever. We won’t give up.” From beginning to end, ‘Now and Forever’ serves as stellar representation of Sister Sin’s perseverance throughout their music career. ? ?
