Green Day Reveal ‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn’-Themed Video for ‘The Forgotten’

Spencer Kaufman, Loudwire While Green Day dropped the unfortunate bomb earlier this week that they have to cancel all upcoming tour dates in 2012 and postpone most of their upcoming tour dates in January and February to allow their lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong to focus on his recovery from substance abuse, the band also offered up some good news, in the form of a new video for the song ‘The Forgotten.’ Although the band is one-third of the way through their release of a series of three new discs ‘¡Uno!,’ ‘¡Dos!,’ and ‘¡Tre!’ in the coming months, ‘The Forgotten’ can be found on the upcoming soundtrack for ‘ The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 .’ The soundtrack is due out on Nov. 13, a few days prior to the movie hitting the big screen. Kicking off on piano, musically ‘The Forgotten’ slow things down a little for the trio with the vampire meets pop-punk video showing off the softer side of Green Day. The clip, sure to appeal to both Green Day and ‘Twilight’ fans offers up a montage of alternating clips from the upcoming movie and bits of footage of Green Day in the studio and on the stage. Fans are already weighing in with feedback about the new song with comments like, “I love this, it’s so beautiful,” and “Amazing song!” Check it out below for yourself. Axl Rose on Feud With Slash + Duff McKagan: I’m Surviving This War, Not the One Who Created It

Robert Cianflone, Getty Images Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose is certainly one of the most beloved, but also detested musicians in rock history. It’s almost impossible to run into anyone who doesn’t have an opinion on Rose as a human being, but the GN’R icon recently partook in an interview that went pretty deep into the mind of one of rock’s most polarizing figures. In Rose’s in-depth interview with USA Today , the singer attributed the lengthy process of writing the ‘Chinese Democracy’ album to mental abuse caused by former Guns guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan . “[Slash and McKagan] did more damage to my ability as a writer,” claims Rose. “To those three, it was all crap. It beat me down so much. At the time of the [‘Use Your Illusion’] tours, Slash and Duff said, ‘You’re an idiot, you’re a loser.’ I didn’t write for years. I felt I was hindered for a very long time. I was also trying to figure out what I wanted to say, when it’s right to be venting and when you’re digging a bigger hole. Lyrics on ‘Chinese’ took a long time.” Rose also explored the idea of how the classic GN’R lineup could have lasted longer. “Maybe if we could have worked together in the way ‘Appetite’ was put together. I was really naïve,” says the singer. “I thought the success of that record would bring everyone together more. It did the exact opposite. They got success and wanted to run in their own directions. I thought they’d go, ‘Whoa, it did work.’ But they wanted to do their own huge bigger success off of Guns.” On the possibility of a truce amongst the classic members, Rose comments, “I feel that ball’s not in my court. I’m surviving this war, not the one who created this war.” Additionally, when asked about fans who consider the current Guns N’ Roses lineup as illegitimate, the singer simply responded, “They can think whatever they want. I’m not interested in their opinions.” Rose says that the band is currently writing and working on their next release, and added, “[The next album] will come out sooner.” Check out the full Axl Rose interview at USAToday.com . Soundgarden’s ‘King Animal’ Best Buy Edition Bolstered With Bonus Tracks

Facebook: Soundgarden Fans have been anxiously awaiting a new album from  Soundgarden for more than 15 years, and the Nov. 13 arrival of ‘King Animal’ is just a couple weeks away. A deluxe edition of the release will also be available at Best Buy that includes extra tracks. In addition to the 13 songs on ‘King Animal,’ demo versions of the songs ‘Black Saturday,’ ‘Bones of Birds,’ ‘By Crooked Steps,’ ‘A Thousand Days Before’ and ‘Worse Dreams’ will also be included.  Finished versions of all five songs also appear on the album. ‘Been Away Too Long’ is the first single from ‘King Animal.’ Frontman Chris Cornell describes the song as “a look back at history in sort of a strange atmospheric way.” Cornell called the song’s lyrical narrative a way of saying, “We’ve been gone for 15 years and now we’re back. It’s about time, and we still have something to say about rock music that no one else is saying — and I feel confident about saying that.” So why did the band split up back in 1997? Cornell says , “We broke up because we were bored of the periphery, all of the things that are outside of the band playing music and writing songs, playing shows – that part got really boring.” Bassist Ben Shepherd adds, “The part that is outside of writing songs and playing shows. So it wasn’t the Soundgarden thing, it was the outside of Soundgarden.” Soundgarden will play the British TV show ‘Later With Jools Holland’ on Nov. 6. According to Grunge Report , they’ve also just booked a ‘Live on Letterman’ mini concert following their Nov. 12 appearance on the ‘Late Show With David Letterman,’  and they have two European concerts scheduled on Nov. 7 (Dortmond, Germany) and Nov. 9 (London, England). 3 Doors Down: The Story Behind the ‘When I’m Gone’ Video – Exclusive Premiere

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com 3 Doors Down are ramping up to the Nov. 19 release of their upcoming ‘ Greatest Hits ‘ collection, and they’ve taken the time to reflect on the songs and videos that got them where they are today with a series of video vignettes. Loudwire is proud to bring you the vignette explaining the story behind the videos for the hit single, ‘When I’m Gone.’ In the vignette, seen below, singer Brad Arnold shares how there were actually two clips for ‘When I’m Gone.’ Most fans are familiar with the one shot during their touring, where they played for military audiences, but the vocalist goes more in depth about a gothic style promo they shot in the South with a darker tone to it. The video ended up being a rather demanding shoot for the band. ‘When I’m Gone’ is just one of the hit singles on the ‘Greatest Hits’ compilation. Other standouts like ‘Kryptonite,’ ‘Duck and Run,’ ‘Here Without You,’ and ‘It’s Not My Time,’ turn up, as do three new songs — ‘One Light,’ ‘There’s a Life,’ and ‘Goodbyes.’ Republic Records will release the disc Nov. 19, and pre-orders are currently being taken here . The band will celebrate two days earlier (Nov. 17) with the ninth annual ‘ The Better Life ‘ foundation concert at the Horseshoe Casino in Tunica, Mississippi. Metallica Jam Green Day’s ‘American Idiot’ Live at 2012 Voodoo Music + Arts Experience

Chuck Armstrong, Loudwire Over the weekend, Metallica headlined the 2012 Voodoo Music + Arts Experience in New Orleans after original headliners Green Day were forced to back out. Due to Billie Joe Armstrong ‘s recent trip to rehab, Metallica stepped in on short notice, but took a moment to pay tribute to their friends in Green Day by performing a part of ‘American Idiot’ onstage (as seen in the video below). During Metallica’s two-hour set, frontman James Hetfield addressed the crowd. “We’re Green Day, just a little taller,” joked Hetfield. “They’re getting it sorted out, hopefully they get it fixed because the world needs them.” After paying tribute to the band, Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich played the intro and first verse of Green Day’s ‘American Idiot,’ letting the audience sing loudly back at them as they played festival karaoke. Metallica’s Kirk Hammett recently spoke with Fuse about filling in Green Day’s spot. “We got a message about [in early October] asking us if we’re able to fill in for Green Day, because Billie Joe was having some issues,” said Hammett. “We discussed it between the four of us and we all said, ‘Yeah, it would be great thing for us to do and it would also be great to help out Billie Joe, ’cause he’s a friend of ours and we love Green Day. If we can help them out in any way possible, we’re always happy to do it, ’cause we love those guys. It’s actually an honor for us that they approached us and asked if we can fill in.” Check out our full coverage of Metallica’s performance at the 2012 Voodoo Music + Arts Experience and watch the band play ‘American Idiot’ in the video below. Shadows Fall Drummer Diagnosed With Acute Pancreatitis, Cancels PASIC Appearance

Razor & Tie Shadows Fall drummer Jason Bittner will be unable to perform at the 2012 PASIC (Percussive Arts Society International Convention) due to a diagnosis of acute pancreatitis. The band is currently on a short break from their headlining tour with God Forbid, Thy Will Be Done and Trumpet the Harlot, but Bittner assures fans that he will return to the road. PASIC is the largest percussion event in the world, which consists of over 120 concerts, clinics, panels, presentations and much more. Bittner was scheduled to perform at the Austin, Texas event, but the drummer announced that he’s under doctors orders to rest instead of making the trip. Bittner writes : “Due to my recent health issues, I am under doctors orders to cancel my trip to Austin Texas this week to perform at PASIC 2012. For over a week, what I thought was a stomach bug (and i was still on tour when all of this started), I came home last week and went to the doctors, and it was written off as just that, a bug. This past Saturday the pain came back and lingered into Sunday which forced me into the emergency room yesterday. After a day in the hospital I was poked, prodded, tested and it turns out I have acute Pancreatitis, which I’m told can be very serious if left untreated. They’re not sure what brought it on (my Dr thinks it was viral), but I have been told by my doctors to not leave this week because I need to be sent for more tests/mri, etc to make 100% sure I’ll be road ready for the second leg of the SF tour which starts Nov. 8th — I should be fine, but needless to say I’m very disappointed I will not be able to come perform in Austin this week! Maybe Pasic 2013??” Shadows Fall will return to the road with Bittner once again in Norfolk, Va. on Nov. 8. Click here for the rest of the tour dates.
