Scott Gries / Lisa Maree Williams, Getty Images The news keeps coming out of the Black Sabbath camp. Not long after it was revealed that the band was planning an April 2013 release and Australian tour , the group was officially confirmed for Japan’s inaugural Ozzfest . They’ll headline night two on May 12 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba City, Japan, while Slipknot have now been confirmed to finish out night one on May 11. Sharon Osbourne recently announced the return of Ozzfest, stating, “ Ozzy [Osbourne] and I want to tell you that [in] May 2013, we’ll be bringing Ozzfest to Japan for the first time ever. We are so excited. Please be there because we love you Japan.” Osbourne has spent a good portion of the last year with the reunited Black Sabbath working on their first studio album together since 1978. The group had plans to tour last year, but settled for a handful of one-off performances while guitarist Tony Iommi recovered from chemotherapy dealing with his cancer. By the time Black Sabbath reaches Ozzfest, they will be plenty warmed up as the group just announced four shows in Australia in late April and early May. Slipknot, meanwhile, are on what Corey Taylor calls a “ hiatus ,” but the singer admitted that the group would be playing sparingly next year. Slipknot’s Current and Former Frontmen to Share Stage at Stone Sour Show

Mary Oullette, SheWillShootYou.com / Facebook: Painface Slipknot fans may have their heads implode this week in Des Moines when Stone Sour plays at the local club Wooly’s. That’s because Slipknot’s original singer, Anders Colsefni, will take the stage Monday night (Oct. 29) with his current band Painface to open the show for Corey Taylor ‘s hit-making outfit. Colsefni appeared on the Slipknot’s 1996 demo, ‘Mate Feed Kill Repeat,’ before leaving the band a year later. The group recruited their current vocalist, Taylor, to take over after Colsefni’s exit. Taylor is currently rocking with his other band Stone Sour, while Slipknot enjoys a bit a temporary hiatus . In a posting at Painface’s Facebook page , the group revealed, “Due to the amazingly gracious Corey Taylor, Painface has been asked to open for Stone Sour this Monday Oct. 29 at Wooley’s. We are excited and proud to be able to support one of our favorite bands and fellow Des Moines musicians. The show is sold out but we hope that you hold up the horns in your heart for us if you can’t be there. There will be more information to follow.” In addition to Painface, Blabbermouth reports that Colsefni recently made a guest appearance on Des Moines rock outfit Green Death’s latest EP, ‘Dawn of the Death,’ which arrives digitally Oct. 30. As for Taylor, Stone Sour is taking up plenty of his time. The band just released the first of their two-part ‘ House of Gold & Bones ‘ album, and they are also plotting comic book and potential film companion pieces to go with the discs. After the performance at Wooly’s, the group will spend most of the rest of the year on tour outside of the U.S. [button href=”http://loudwire.com/slipknot-the-heretic-anthem-top-21st-century-metal-songs/” title=”Next: Slipknot – Top 21st Century Metal Songs” align=”center”]

Finch Reunite to Celebrate Tenth Anniversary of ‘What It Is to Burn’ Album

Facebook: Finch Finch were one of the more promising bands of the early 2000s, but label and band issues eventually led to their split in 2010. However, the group members have been talking of late and decided to reunite to pay tribute to their stellar major label debut, ‘What It Is to Burn,’ which is celebrating its tenth anniversary. The disc spawned three singles, led by the outstanding title track and followed by ‘New Beginnings’ and ‘Letters to You.’ The ‘What It Is to Burn’ single recently placed at No. 47 on Loudwire’s Top 21st Century Hard Rock Songs list. However, the group had trouble maintaining that momentum after their breakout disc. In 2006 they went on hiatus so that the band members could pursue other projects, but a year later the discussion of a Finch DVD got the group talking again and they decided to reform. The band started showcasing new material and released a four-song EP with plans to follow with a full-length. Unfortunately, a period of inactivity followed and that third studio album never came to fruition. Recently, the band members have been more active in posting material on their Facebook page, leading to speculation that something was in the works. They confirmed their reunion in a posting that read: Finch will be reuniting to commemorate the 10th anniversary of ‘What It Is to Burn’ on Feb. 1, 2013 at the Glasshouse in Pomona, Calif. We are excited to play ‘What It Is to Burn’ from front to back in its entirety. Ticket information will be released soon. We’ll see you at the show! Love Finch, Nate Barcalow, Randy Strohmeyer, Alex Linares, Daniel Wonacott and Alex Pappas It is not known whether or not Finch will continue beyond the one date.

Orgy’s New Lineup Shows Off ‘Grime of the Century’ at West Hollywood Stop

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Some of the faces may have changed, but Orgy and frontman Jay Gordon are still rocking it as solid as ever. The band returned to the Roxy in West Hollywood, Calif., Sunday night (Sept. 23) with a set that provided the perfect showcase for the band’s new single, ‘ Grime of the Century .’ The veteran rockers haven’t released a record since 2004, with Gordon eventually tiring of the hiatus, reclaiming the band name and re-staffing the group with former members of Deadsy and the Start among others. With the new lineup featuring guitarists Carlton Bost and Ashburn Miller, bassist Nic Speck and drummer Jamie Miller, Orgy are ready to re-establish themselves in the live setting after spending their recent months in the studio. The group got things rolling with tracks like ‘Dissension,’ ’107,’ and ‘Suckerface’ all showing the new band member’s chops while Gordon was like a live wire bounding with endless energy across the Roxy stage. After getting the audience worked up with the older favorites, the group decided debut their new single live for the first time. The good news for the band is that ‘Grime of the Century’ received one of the biggest responses of the night. The industrial rocker fit right in with the band’s past works, translated well to the stage, and even inspired a circle pit to break out. In addition, a film crew were on hand to capture the song’s live debut. With ‘Grime of the Century,’ the Orgy re-activation seems to be heading in the right direction. The band continued the momentum by following with such favorites as ‘Fiction (Dreaming in Digital),’ ‘Opticon,’ and ‘Eva’ before finishing out the night with their biggest single, their cover of New Order’s ‘Blue Monday.’ During the encore performance, Gordon felt so inspired by the audience energy he decided to take part, leaving the stage and joining the crowd while singing the song. He even boldly ventured into the circle pit for a moment before finally making his way back to the stage. As of yet, there are no finalized details on a full Orgy record, but with ‘Grime of the Century’ leading the way, the comeback is off on the right foot. Down Perform With Former Bassist Rex Brown in Dallas

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire / Ethan Miller, Getty Images Down and former bassist Rex Brown reunited onstage Tuesday night (Sept. 18) for the first time since the musician exited the band last year. The veteran rocker and longtime cohort of Down singer Phil Anselmo dating back to the Pantera years, came out to perform during the encore songs of ‘Stone the Crow’ and ‘Bury Me in Smoke’ during the group’s set in Dallas. (Watch footage below.) Brown first took leave from the band in 2009 while suffering from pancreatitis. Anselmo stated in an interview, “I gave it my all and I love Rex Brown with all of my f—ing heart and soul, but goddamnit he will not put down that f—ing bottle for any of us.” During his absence, the band had Patrick Bruders fill in for Brown and the bassist remained after Brown revealed his exit from the group last year. Brown later found a new musical home in a band called Kill Devil Hill . Down just released the first of four scheduled EPs yesterday. Dubbed ‘ Down IV Part 1 – The Purple EP ,’ the set has already spawned the single ‘ Witchtripper .’ ?
