Chevelle Frontman Pete Loeffler Injures Knee in Frightening Stage Fall

Twitter: @ChevelleInc The stage can be a dangerous place, and Chevelle singer-guitarist Pete Loeffler found that out firsthand Monday night (Oct. 8) in Tucson when he took a tumble off the front of the stage. Ever the trooper, a hurting Loeffler managed to return to finish out the set after a brief intermission where he was deemed well enough to perform. He was seated for the remainder of the show. After the show, the vocalist headed off to the hospital and the X-rays showed no broken bones. However, Loeffler did have plenty of swelling and was given a knee brace to keep things stable. After getting the singer checked out, the band tweeted: Thanks to the fans who stuck around after Pete damaged his knee bad tonight. Serj Tankian Launches Campaign to Fund ‘ORCA’ Symphonic Album + Show

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Those who’ve followed Serj Tankian since System of a Down first went on hiatus have seen the singer follow a variety of muses, including a growing love of orchestral music. Tankian is now ready to take his biggest step yet in the orchestral direction by recording his first-ever full symphony record, and he’s launched a Kickstarter campaign to make his musical dream come true. Tankian first ventured into symphonic territory during support of his ‘Elect the Dead’ album when he invited several orchestras to help translate some of the tracks live. That resulted in the ‘Elect the Dead Symphony’ CD and DVD, and the project only enhanced his thirst for more, leading him to work on his first four-act symphony. The vocalist also intends to utilize an Austrian orchestra from his past tour with the idea that they will record Tankian’s work, as well as play it live for an audience. The singer makes his plea as follows: I am very excited to share my most personal, compelling musical project to date: my first-ever full symphony called ORCA. I have an incredible opportunity to record and perform ORCA live with the world renowned Das Karussell Orchestra (featuring members of the Bruckner Orchester) at Brucknerhaus in Linz, Austria on Oct. 28th, 2012 and with your involvement and support, we can make it happen! While I have rearranged some of my past rock compositions to be performed as orchestral pieces, such as the Elect The Dead Symphony in 2010, ORCA is the first 4 act symphony that I have composed, a mix of early 20th century compositional styles combined with the powerful range of film scoring. I decided to name my symphony ORCA because orcas “appear to have no parallel outside humans” in terms of their cultural faculties. An orca is really a dolphin with much darker tendencies. I see this dichotomy as a great metaphor for humanity. Last year, I wrote and recorded a professionally sampled studio version with the goal of being able to record it properly with a full orchestra … this was not something I could capture in a small home studio. I was able to play with The Das Karussell Orchestra at Brucknerhaus during the ‘Elect The Dead Symphony’ world tour, which was an amazing experience. I shared my sampled recording of ORCA with them, and together we made plans for the live performance and recording to fully bring the work to life and share and distribute it to as many people as possible. We have put together many different ways for fans to get involved and be a part of ORCA from the ground up, all of which are outlined in this Kickstarter campaign. We tried to think of ways to give you every bit of music possible, and interactive, personalized experiences for those who can attend the show on Oct. 28th, and for those who can’t. Our goal is $25,000, which is the minimal cost for the recording. Any additional funds will be used to cover the expenses of mixing, mastering and promotion. We will keep you updated with news and progress so you are able to see what we do as this project grows. Please check it out and I hope to share this journey for ORCA with you all. Thank you for the support. Peace,??Serj At present, Tankian is attempting to reach the $25,000 goal, and he’s just under $15,000 shy with 19 days left to go. In order to help sell the idea, Tankian has come up with a number of rewards depending on how much fans donate to his goal. For a contribution as minimal as $1, fans will get a personalized email from the singer. Other tiers include such draws as CD packages, early downloads, autographed score sheets, t-shirts, album credits, meet-and-greet VIP tickets to the show, and lunch with Tankian. The top-priced package for those donating $10,000 or more includes all of the previously mentioned items, plus the opportunity to spend a portion of the recording day with Tankian and the Das Karussell Orchestra, executive producer credit on the disc, a professionally framed plaque with the ORCA score sheet, show poster, and personalized placard and the opportunity to join Tankian onstage at the show taking a bow after the performance. Three Days Grace Take ‘Chalk Outline’ Video to the Streets

Vevo.com After watching Three Days Grace ‘s new video for ‘ Chalk Outline ,’ it might be worth it to steer clear of the general vicinity of singer Adam Gontier. The clip for the band’s latest chart-topping single focuses primarily on the singer walking the streets of Brooklyn, similar to the Verve’s Richard Ashcroft in the ‘ Bittersweet Symphony ‘ video years ago. While nothing bad happens to Gontier as he belts out the song through the streets, there are a few altercations and accidents that occur around him. The Shane Drake-directed clip is also fun for fans of the band, as the group’s other members make cameos in the background of scenes. ‘Chalk Outline’ is the No. 1 rock hit from the band’s newly released, ‘ Transit of Venus ‘ album. Drummer Neil Sanderson previously stated of the disc , “We went for a tighter, more articulated sound on this record. The music we were writing was a little more intricate than in the past, and we’ve been experimenting with new instruments … We wanted to present these new ideas concisely without going over-the-top in ambiance and overall production.” Look for Three Days Grace supporting the album this fall with club dates beginning Oct. 8 in Dallas. Kurt Cobain Suicide Note Emotionally Struck Neil Young

Frank Micelotta / Theo Wargo, Getty Images “ It’s better to burn out than to fade away ” may be one of Neil Young ‘s most quotable lyrics, but the singer says that he’s still haunted by the fact that the ‘Hey Hey, My My’ quip resonated so much with Kurt Cobain that the late Nirvana singer quoted it in his suicide note. Young says in his ‘Waging Heavy Peace’ book, “When he died and left that note, it struck a deep chord inside of me. It f—ed with me.” Young, who many had nicknamed the “Godfather of Grunge” not only for his look but his songs, said he had tried to reach out to the vocalist prior to his death in order to talk to him about his issues. The singer says, “I wanted to talk to him. Tell him only to play when he felt like it.” The fact that they never got to speak affected Young, but hearing his lyric quoted back in the note took his regret to a whole new level. Young channeled his feelings into the ‘Sleeps With Angels’ title track in 1994. Young, who had his own issues with drink and drugs, revealed earlier this month that he had given up alcohol and smoking marijuana. It’s been a productive year for the singer, who issued the ‘Americana’ album earlier this year, has the ‘ Psychedelic Pill ‘ disc arriving at the end of October, and also has the ‘Waging Heavy Peace’ autobiography on the horizon. Fozzy Joined by Avenged Sevenfold’s M. Shadows in L.A. for Surprise ‘Sandpaper’ Performance

Jason Merritt / Adam Bettcher, Getty Images Fozzy treated Los Angeles fans to a show at the Roxy last night (Sept. 27). Right before the band began to play the single ‘Sandpaper’ from their latest album, ‘Sin & Bones,’ the crowd was surprised by Avenged Sevenfold singer M. Shadows , as he took the stage with Fozzy to perform guest vocals. Before jumping onstage with the band, M. Shadows was recruited to the studio by Fozzy to be featured on ‘Sandpaper’ as they were recording ‘Sin & Bones.’ With the help of M. Shadows, Fozzy’s ‘Sandpaper’ went undefeated in our Cage Matches, earning a retirement to the Cage Match Hall of Fame . There is also a ‘Evil Dead’-inspired music video for ‘Sandpaper,’ that features a cameo from M. Shadows, but it has yet to be released. Chris Jericho told us about the upcoming ‘Sandpaper’ video during our recent interview with the singer. “It kind of started from that and then we said, ‘What if we do a whole Evil Dead-type homage?’ And then we found this bad-ass cabin in the woods in Atlanta, and just everything kind of fell together from there. We found, right by the cabin, there was a civil war burial ground, and there was this creepy bridge that was near it, and the cabin couldn’t have been more perfect for what we were looking for.” Jericho continues, “We just filmed M. Shadows’ stuff too, so he’s going to be in the video. So I think it’s going to be something no one else has seen before. It’s very, very cool and it’s just what we wanted.” The A7X fan site Deathbat News also reports that Chris Jericho and M. Shadows got matching Jack-O-Lantern tattoos, as pictured below: Twitter: IAmJericho [button href=”http://loudwire.com/fozzy-chris-jericho-uproar-festival-sandpaper-more/” title=”Watch Loudwire’s Interview with Fozzy’s Chris Jericho” align=”center”] ?
