Slipknot’s Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan to Direct Video for Hollywood Undead Track ‘We Are’

Mary Ouellette, shewillshootyou.com / Ethan Miller, Getty Images Hollywood Undead are gearing up to release their third studio album, ‘Notes From the Underground’ in 2013. With another year coming our way, rock and metal acts from around the world will attempt to create the biggest buzz of the year, capturing the spotlight for themselves and their music. To give Hollywood Undead a little extra boost for the new single ‘We Are,’ the band has recruited Slipknot ‘s Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan to direct the song’s music video. Crahan has helped Slipknot achieve phenomenal success since the group’s inception, and the artist will now seek to lend his talents to Hollywood Undead for the ‘We Are’ video. “We are very excited to be working with someone that thinks as progressively about their art as we do,” says Hollywood Undead’s Da Kurlzz. ”Clown is a great director, and together we are going to deliver something truly memorable.” Band member Johnny 3 Tears elaborates, “The song [‘We Are’] is about collective resistance. It’s the silent majority, but we’re using Los Angeles as the backdrop. Every time we work with Danny, he takes our music to the next level. Think of it as an ode to our misled youth.” Johnny continues, “We’ve maintained an underground identity. When we write songs, we’re coming from a place people don’t like to look at or talk about openly. As people get older, they get used to lying. We have a bond with so many kids because they appreciate that honesty. They don’t know how bad some things get yet. We tell them the truth.” The ‘Notes From the Underground’ album title is an homage to the great Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoyevsky. Stay tuned for the ‘We Are’ video and the 2013 release of ‘Notes From the Underground.’ [button href=”http://loudwire.com/hollywood-undead-notes-from-the-underground-webisode-1-exclusive-premiere/” title=”Next: Watch the First ‘Notes From the Underground’ Webisode” align=”center”]

Filter Psyched for ShipRocked 2012 Cruise

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Filter are one of the acts performing and taking part in various activities on the  ShipRocked 2012  cruise, along with bands such as Five Finger Death Punch, Godsmack, Korn and many others. The ship sets sail Nov. 27 from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and makes stops in Key West, Fla., and Nassau, Bahamas, before returning on Dec. 1. For information on reservations, the itinerary, the performances and much more, check out  GetShipRocked.com . When we spoke to Filter frontman Richard Patrick and guitarist Jonathan Radtke, they talked to us about last year’s rocking cruise, during which they shared the boat with some elderly vacationers, and also expressed their excitement for this year’s ShipRocked trip. Describe the Shiprocked experience last year? Richard Patrick: It’s like you’re on a ship and every time you go out – boom you’re hanging with the fans, as soon as you step out of your cabin you have to know that people on the boat are fans so there’s not a lot of privacy but it’s a lot of fun. Everybody is super respectful. To us it’s like this fun paid vacation where we get to rock ‘n’ roll so it’s not even a big deal, everything is completely taken care of and you’re hanging out with people that just adore you, how hard is that. Jonathan Radtke: And you get to hang out with bands that you’re friends with, we’re really close with the Buckcherry guys. What are you looking forward to most for this year with Shiprocked? JR: Well I think they’re going to a new location this year, the Bahamas. RP: And it’s the entire ship. I feel so bad for the people last year. JR: Half of the ship last year were paying customers who weren’t affiliated with ShipRocked, that were just going to Cozumel where we were going. So when they saw the boat was literally being overtaken by rock people – I remember this old couple, literally as the boat was still in port and the boat was about to take off and I don’t know if they were aware of it and you literally see thousands of people with tattoos and drinking. The first band was Hellyeah or something like that or Hinder and this poor old couple had their hands on their ears like “What is going on?!” RP: “Oh my God is this what we’re in for?!” JR: So apparently this year the entire boat is reserved for ShipRocked, which is even better. RP: They’re going to build scaffolding like a real stage and this whole thing because you’re playing in all these little arenas and these little places and we’re playing and the f—ing speakers are swaying. I remember playing and feeling like I was going to sprain my ankles, it’s a good time. The bands are amazing Five Finger Death Punch, Sevendust – I got a picture of me and Lajon [Witherspoon] just hanging on the beach from last year. No motion sickness for you guys last year? RP: I was telling you earlier about my problems with roller coasters but I was fine on the boat last year. You know what is really interesting though, if you’re too wasted and you’re belligerent they will leave you there. JR: Yeah because you do get off the boat at certain stops and do activities and stuff and there were a couple of people we heard stories about – that a couple guys had a little too much and weren’t allowed back on the boat, they pissed off the ferderales and got in trouble. RP: Dude you’re stuck in Mexico – and a lot of these people it’s just something they did and you don’t know if they had the money to get back and they’re so wasted. All of the shows are held on the boat itself, do you rock out on the sandy beaches at all? JR : Yeah all of the shows are on the boat, each band does like two shows. RP: There’s music going on all over the place, there’s different levels of bands, there’s some weird clubs they have on this things. They have all of these little different departments of strange, there’s night clubs and casinos. There’s not a dull moment – it’s a lot of hanging out, sunbathing, swimming during the day and then as soon as you eat dinner, you start playing. It starts at 4pm and just goes all night long, people are playing ‘til like two in the morning. JR: Us and Buckcherry, we did our theater show and went on at like 1 am – I remember taking a nap and waking up at 11:30 pm. RP: Dude I remember waking up and the people next door were like, “Who is that Steven Tyler?” [Laughs] I’m in there warming up and they’re like “I think it’s Steven Tyler.” Those poor old people. They had this one guy teaching them how to dance and he was Italian. I felt so bad because he looked over and there was this dark cloud of heavy metal and rock fans. Bullet for My Valentine Unleash New Single ‘Temper Temper’

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Bullet for My Valentine  premiered a new song ‘Temper Temper’ yesterday (Oct. 22) on BBC Radio 1, and now have made the audio of the track available on YouTube (listen below). ‘Temper Temper’ is from Bullet for My Valentine’s upcoming fourth studio album. Produced by Don Gilmore ( Linkin Park , Pearl Jam ), the album is due in early 2013. The title and exact release date have not yet been revealed. Their previous effort ‘Fever’ (2010) cracked the Top 5 in countries all over the world, including the U.S. (No. 3), U.K. (No. 5) and Japan (No. 1). The song is certainly catchy, especially the sing-song chorus. ‘Temper Temper’ has plenty of melody and is destined for rock radio airplay. The initial reaction from fans, however, is mixed at best if you gauge the comments on the band’s Facebook and YouTube pages. Earlier this year, frontman Matt Tuck revealed they had been working on new music in Thailand. He says those that have heard their new music say it sounds like “a very confident, focused rock band.” In addition to his work with BFMV, Tuck has been busy with AxeWound . The band, which also includes Cancer Bats vocalist Liam Cormier, drummer Jason Bowld of Pitchshifter, ex-Rise to Remain bassist Joe Coput and Glamour of the Kill guitarist Mike Kingswood, recently released their debut album ‘ Vultures .’ Bullet for My Valentine performed at this year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals, and are set to play Soundwave Festival in Australia in 2013. They also are expected to announce new UK tour dates soon. Listen to Bullet For My Valentine’s ‘Temper Temper’

Three Days Grace’s Brad Walst Joins Neuroblastoma Research Fundraiser

Ethan Miller, Getty Images Three Days Grace are usually pretty good about signing on for causes, but bassist Brad Walst has a personal reason for participating in the James Fund’s walk-run fundraiser for neuroblastoma research. His young son was diagnosed as having a cancerous neuroblastoma tumor several years ago. Walst will join the group of runners and walkers around the world in taking part in the international event on Oct. 28. He’s started a page where fans can sponsor his participation. It’s his goal to reach $3,000 in donations and at last check he’d raised 46 percent of the figure with just over $1,400 contributed. In the seven years the James Fund has been in existence over $275,000 has been raised for neuroblastoma research. Walst posted a photo of his son James rocking out at the Rockstar Uproar Tour earlier this year, along with his personal appeal for support. His message read: Hello Everyone… On October 28, 2012, I will be participating in the Walk/Run for The James Fund. Four years ago, my life was changed forever when I heard the dreaded news that my son James (who hadn’t even celebrated his second birthday yet) had neuroblastoma, one of the most devastating childhood cancers. When I look back on all that he has been through, it is still shocking to know that his tiny spine has been taken apart and put back together again (not once, but twice!) to rid his body of this awful disease. It has been over 3 years since his tumor has stabilized – James is one of the lucky ones. Not all children with neuroblastoma are as lucky, in fact the majority are not. This is the reason we support the James Fund. In the past 4 years the supporters of our team James Rocks! have raised over $65,000 for the Walk/Run! There are no words to express our extreme gratitude – THANK-YOU!! This year’s event will support a national Neuroblastoma Drug Discovery Project to discover new drugs to treat neuroblastoma. This project has many facets, from the lab bench to the clinic.?? There are no cures for neuroblastoma, and it is the goal of the Drug Discovery Project to discover an effective treatment to save our kids. Sincerely,? Geoff Tate Wins Court Ruling to Continue Using Queensryche Name

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com There will continue to be two Queensryche s, at least for the time being, as a Washington state judge ruled Friday (Oct. 19) in favor of Geoff Tate , allowing the singer to perform with his own version of the group after being ousted from his former band earlier this year. Billboard reports that Superior Court Judge Carol A. Schapira denied a motion for a partial summary judgment that had been filed by guitarist Michael Wilton, drummer Scott Rockenfield and bassist Eddie Jackson last month attempting to keep Tate from using the name. Jackson stated in a recent interview with Billboard that the announcement of a Tate-led Queensryche lineup that was planning to tour and record led to confusion amongst their fans. Earlier this year, Tate’s attempts to keep his former bandmates from touring under the Queensryche name, but with a different vocalist, were denied . However, at the time of the July ruling, Schapira stated that there was not enough information given that would keep her from letting Tate use the moniker as well. The members of Queensryche issued a statement to Billboard which read: Queensryche is disappointed in the denial of the motion to prevent our former vocalist from using our name, but we respect the court’s decision to do so. That said, we apologize for any confusion to our fans that a second entity sharing our name may cause. We look forward to seeing all of you on the road and bringing you new Queensryche music in the near future. Thank you all for your continued support, and for now we will just have to let the rocking do the talking. Tate has also filed suit for wrongful termination, while the band countersued claiming creative obstruction and violent behavior. Should the cases proceed to trial without a settlement, the court date is set for Nov. 18, 2013.
