Green Day To Play Three Warm-Up Shows Prior to South by Southwest Gig

Spencer Kaufman, Loudwire Green Day just pushed up their return to the road, adding three new dates that will serve as warm-up shows for their recently announced North American stage return at South by Southwest in Austin. Earlier this week, the band revealed that they would play a set March 15 at Austin’s Moody Theater, coinciding with two of their documentaries screening as part of South By Southwest’s film festival. Now comes word that the band wants to get their chops up to snuff by playing a few shows before performing at the music showcase. The new stops will be at Pomona’s (Calif.) Fox Theater on March 10, Tempe’s Marquee on March 11 and El Paso’s Tricky Falls on March 13. Tickets for all three dates will go on sale this Friday (March 1) at 10AM local time. They join the recently announced April 16 and 18 performances at Berkeley’s Greek Theatre and Los Angeles’ Sports Arena that recently extended the tour by a week. The South by Southwest film festival will premiere the band’s ‘Broadway Idiot’ documentary, which is primarily focused on singer Billie Joe Armstrong ‘s role in the Broadway production of the band’s ‘American Idiot’ album. Also screening at the Paramount Theatre the night of March 15 will be ‘¡Cuatro!,’ a documentary on the making of Green Day’s recently released album trilogy. The new shows are now part of the band’s North American trek, which will keep them on the road through April 18 in Los Angeles. After that, the group will trek over to Milan, Italy for the start of their European tour on May 24, with shows overseas booked through July 13 in Bilbao, Spain. Corey Taylor’s ‘House of Gold & Bones’ Comics: Reveal of Issue No. 1 Pages + Issue No. 3 Cover Art

Dark Horse Comics – ‘HOGAB’ No. 3 Variant Cover Stone Sour ‘s ‘House of Gold & Bones’ period of their career is becoming more and more impressive as its multidimensional aspects continue to be revealed through various mediums. Along with the concept taking form of a double album, ‘House of Gold & Bones’ is taking shape as a four-issue comic book series created by frontman Corey Taylor . Pieces of the first and second comic have already been revealed, and Loudwire is proud to premiere a terrifying taste of issue No. 1 along with a pair of covers for issue No. 3. Written entirely by Stone Sour / Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor, the ‘House of Gold & Bones’ comic book series is inspired by the Stone Sour double album of the same name, ‘Part 1′ of which was released on Oct. 22 of last year. ‘House of Gold & Bones Part 2′ is scheduled to drop on April 9, with the record’s first single, ‘Do Me a Favor,’ having already been unleashed for your listening pleasure. As for the comics, the series tells a gripping story. “Trapped in an alternate reality,” begins an official description, “the Human must make his way to the House of Gold & Bones as he is chased by a crazed mob, and taunted by mysterious ally, Allen. What the Human discovers on his journey will be his salvation . . . or his destruction.” ‘House of Gold & Bones’ No. 1 will be available on April 17, and is available for pre-order at this link . Meanwhile, issue No. 2 will see a May 22 release date. The  pre-order link  for No. 2 was  tweeted  out by Stone Sour yesterday. There is not yet a fixed date for the third comic to come out, but the exclusive cover, drawn by Jason Shawn Alexander, and the variant cover, created by Steve Morris, are set in ink in the images below. Just like previous artwork revealed for the comics, the ‘House of Gold & Bones’ pages are stunning visually. In pages 8-10 of Issue No. 1 (seen below), the comic’s protagonist is depicted bursting into a small room while on the run from a dark and mystical shadow, which takes form in different humanoid shapes. The final teaser page from the third ‘House of Gold & Bones’ comic ends with the smoke sitting in a chair across from its terrified victim, sparking a match in frightening fashion. In our recent video interview with Corey Taylor, he spoke in depth about the graphic depiction of the ‘House of Gold & Bones’ double album. “I think it’s gonna appeal to people who like a really good story,” says Taylor, “like a mystery, trying to piece together puzzles and whatnot. And I just think it’s a great visual representation of the short story I wrote for the albums.” Check out these exclusive pieces of Dark Horse Comics’ ‘House of Gold & Bones’ issues No. 1 + No. 3: ‘House of Gold and Bones’ Comic No. 1 – Page 8 Dark Horse Comics ‘House of Gold and Bones’ Comic No. 1 – Page 9 Dark Horse Comics ‘House of Gold and Bones’ Comic No. 1 – Page 10 Dark Horse Comics ‘House of Gold and Bones’ Issue No. 3 Cover Dark Horse Comics ‘House of Gold and Bones’ Issue No. 3 Variant Cover Dark Horse Comics Previously Unveiled Covers for Issues No. 1 and No. 2 ? Stone Temple Pilots Officially Fire Scott Weiland

Kevin Winter, Getty Images According to a press release just sent out on behalf of Stone Temple Pilots , singer Scott Weiland has been officially been fired from the band. The troubled vocalist is no stranger to internal conflict, and it seems that those days are far from over for Weiland, as he once again finds himself out of a job. Weiland was dismissed from Velvet Revolver in 2008, and one of his former bandmates in that group,  Slash , unofficially broke the news of Weiland’s latest exit from Stone Temple Pilots during an interview with Minneapolis/St. Paul radio station 93X. While discussing Weiland’s insistence that he was back in Velvet Revolver in December 2012, Slash threw in, “That’s because he got fired from STP.” Although Slash is considered a reliable source, the news was still thought to be hearsay until Stone Temple Pilots officially announced Weiland’s leave in a short press release issued today (Feb. 27) that reads entirely as follows: Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland. Strangely enough, in an interview with Rolling Stone conducted just yesterday (Feb. 26), Weiland insisted that he was still a member of Stone Temple Pilots. ”STP has not broken up,” said Weiland. “I haven’t quit. I haven’t been fired … Slash doesn’t know anything about STP. We’re talking right now about when we want to tour next … No one has ever fired anybody in STP. We’re like a family. It’s also a partnership. I started the band. We’ve always kept things going. We’ve taken time off before. They’ve done their own projects and I fully support that. No one has been fired and I haven’t quit. That’s all hearsay.” Scott Weiland is currently working on his career as a solo artist with backing band the Wildabouts. Weiland and the Wildabouts will be hitting the road on their ‘Purple at the Core’ tour, signifying that the string of dates will focus heavily on Stone Temple Pilots’ first two albums, ‘Core’ and ‘Purple.’ Weiland is also expected to perform Velvet Revolver and solo material. The trek begins March 1 in Flint, Mich. Update: Scott Weiland has responded with his own statement regarding his termination from STP: I learned of my supposed “termination” from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press. Not sure how I can be “terminated” from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that’s something for the lawyers to figure out. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to seeing all of my fans on my solo tour which starts this Friday. – Scott Weiland [button href=”http://loudwire.com/slash-scott-weiland-velvet-revolver-reunion-comments-were-not-buying-it/” title=”Slash on Scott Weiland’s Velvet Revolver Reunion Claim: ‘We’re Not Buying It'” align=”center”]

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Gives His First Post-Rehab Interview to Rolling Stone

Rolling Stone Magazine Green Day ‘s Billie Joe Armstrong is about to re-enter the music world with a spring tour and an appearance at Austin’s South by Southwest on the schedule next month, but the rocker, fresh from a rehab stint, is now speaking about the issues that forced him to seek treatment and leave the touring life last fall. In the new issue of Rolling Stone , the frontman details his years of alcohol and prescription drug abuse. He recalls, “I couldn’t predict where I was going to end up at the end of the night. I’d wake up in a strange house on a couch. I wouldn’t remember how. It was a complete blackout.” Armstrong’s issues came to a head at the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas last year when he delivered an onstage tirade that included the smashing of instruments and a thorough tongue-lashing of festival organizers who had a clock counting down the band’s set time. Shortly after the incident, the band apologized and Armstrong sought treatment. He says of the Vegas show, “I remember tiny things. The next morning, I woke up. I asked [my wife] Adrienne, ‘How bad was it?’ She said, ‘It’s bad.’ I called my manager. He said, ‘You’re getting on a plane, going back to Oakland and going into rehab immediately.’” The full Rolling Stone interview with Armstrong arrives on newsstands this Friday. Trent Reznor Reboots Nine Inch Nails With Members of Jane’s Addiction, King Crimson + More

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Trent Reznor has just unveiled some drop-to-your-knees-and-praise-the-lord-type of exciting news. He has confirmed that Nine Inch Nails  are officially rebooted with a fresh, all-star lineup, blending previous NIN collaborators along with new members plucked from celebrated acts such as Jane’s Addiction , King Crimson and Puscifer . And as if that wasn’t cool enough, Nine Inch Nails are also set to embark on a U.S. tour beginning this summer. The new Nine Inch Nails collective is a prominent one, with seasoned NIN members Alessandro Cortini (keyboards / synth / guitar / bass) and Ilan Rubin (drums) continuing their legacies with Reznor’s brilliant industrial act. In addition to the trio, Nine Inch Nails have welcomed former Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery, King Crimson multi-instrumentalist Adrian Belew and Puscifer / Telefon Tel Aviv musician Josh Eustis into the group. In a note from Trent Reznor posted on Pitchfork , the sonic brainiac explained the newly revamped version of Nine Inch Nails: Nine Inch Nails are touring this year. I was working with Adrian Belew on some musical ideas, which led to some discussion on performing, which led to some beard-scratching, which (many steps later) led to the decision to re-think the idea of what Nine Inch Nails could be, and the idea of playing a show. Calls were made to some friends, lots of new ideas were discussed, and a show was booked – which led to another, which somehow led to a lot of shows. The band is reinventing itself from scratch and will be comprised of Eric Avery, Adrian Belew, Alessandro Cortini, Josh Eustis, Ilan Rubin, and me. The first shows will begin this summer, followed by a full-on arena tour of the US this fall, and lots of other dates worldwide to follow through 2014. Lots of details and dates to come. See you soon. TR Prior to all the Nine Inch Nails awesomeness, Trent Reznor’s side project with wife Mariqueen Maandig , Rob Sheridan and Atticus Ross –  How to Destroy Angels  – will release their debut full-length album, ‘Welcome Oblivion’ on March 5. That outfit has also scheduled a number of North American dates for 2013.
