Green Day’s Music To Serve as Soundtrack to Episode of ‘CSI: NY’

Christopher Polk / Carlo Allegri, Getty Images Green Day may be off the road due to Billie Joe Armstrong ‘s rehab stint , but the group is finding plenty of other ways to remain in the spotlight. One of them will happen on Oct. 19, when the group’s music is used to soundtrack an episode of the CBS crime drama ‘CSI: NY.’ According to the band’s website , songs such as ‘Stop When the Red Light Flashes,’ ‘Amy,’ ‘Night Life,’ ‘The Forgotten,’ and ‘Kill the DJ’ will help tell the story of the episode. In the episode itself, Lindsay (Anna Belknap) is injured while trying to stop the attempted murder of a political candidate. CSI: NY executive producer Pam Veasey states, “My ultimate goal was to tell a story without dialogue, and Green Day’s music and lyrics beautifully accompanied the visuals making it a very special episode.” The band stated, “We were stoked when we found out ‘CSI: NY’ wanted to use our music instead of dialogue to narrate the first few acts of the episode. It’s the first time something like this has been done on the series, and we are blown away with what we’ve seen.” ‘CSI: NY’ airs Fridays on CBS at 8PM ET/PT. 3 Doors Down To Unleash ‘Greatest Hits’ Collection With Three New Songs

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com 3 Doors Down have enjoyed a decade-plus of hit after hit after hit, and now the Mississippi rockers will package all of their favorites onto one best-of disc, with a trio of new tracks adding a little something special to the release. The set, simply titled ‘Greatest Hits,’ is due Nov. 19 from Republic Records and features such favorites as the group’s first smash single ‘Kryptonite’ through standouts like ‘It’s Not My Time,’ ‘When I’m Gone,’ and ‘Here Without You.’ As for the new songs, fans are already embracing the track ‘One Light,’ which made its live debut earlier this year as part of the band’s Republican National Convention appearance. The set also features the new songs ‘There’s a Life’ and ‘Goodbyes.’ The ‘Greatest Hits’ collection comes after 3 Doors Down  reluctantly parted ways with guitarist Matt Roberts earlier this year. Roberts has dealt with circulation problems for years, and things had worsened to the point that he realized he could no longer keep up with the grueling tour schedule the band follows each year. Chet Roberts, unrelated to Matt, has stepped in to fill the vacated slot. Fozzy Debut ‘Evil Dead’-Inspired Video for ‘Sandpaper’

Century Media Records After a lengthy wait and a mound of paperwork completed, Fozzy have finally released their ‘Evil Dead’-inspired music video for ‘Sandpaper.’ For both fans of the ‘Evil Dead’ franchise and Fozzy, the video will not disappoint, paying tribute to memorable scenes from both ‘Evil Dead’ and ‘Evil Dead 2.’ Although ‘Sandpaper’ was released as a single on July 17 and ‘Sin & Bones,’ the album which hones the track, was unveiled on Aug. 14, it’s taken until today (Oct. 2) for the video to see the light of day. Since Avenged Sevenfold vocalist M. Shadows appears in the ‘Sandpaper’ video to sing his guest vocal spot, Warner Bros. needed to give their approval before Shadows could be legally cleared to appear. The process proved to be a lengthy one, but as Fozzy singer Chris Jericho assured us, the wait was worth it. For ‘Evil Dead’ fanatics, shots such as the ‘flying camera,’ the desolate cabin, possessed humans breaking through wooden panels, Jericho flying through the woods and many other scenes are both instantly recognizable and stirring. We found this bad-ass cabin in the woods in Atlanta, and just everything kind of fell together from there,” Jericho told us in a recent interview . “We found, right by the cabin, there was a civil war burial ground, and there was this creepy bridge that was near it, and the cabin couldn’t have been more perfect for what we were looking for. It looks exactly like the little Evil Dead cabin. Then we started doing all the effects that were involved, all the gags that were involved, the point-of-view camera and being attacked by the vine.” Be sure to check out Fozzy’s music video for ‘Sandpaper,’ available for streaming exclusively at WWE.com  by clicking below: Click the Image Below to Watch Fozzy’s Video for ‘Sandpaper’ Century Media

Foo Fighters Deliver Classic Rock Favorites for Music Midtown Set

Frederick M. Brown / Justin Sullivan, Getty Images The Foo Fighters freshened things up by digging into the past with several classic rock covers Friday night (Sept. 21) during their headlining set at Atlanta’s Music Midtown festival. The event also gave them the opportunity to reprise their frequent cover of ‘Bad Reputation’ with the song’s originator, Joan Jett , who had played earlier in the day. The fans were treated to a healthy dose of the band’s ‘Wasting Light’ album early on, with ‘White Limo,’ ‘Rope,’ ‘Arlandria,’ ‘These Days,’ and ‘Walk’ among the first nine tracks of the night. But after that and such well placed hits as ‘All My Life,’ ‘The Pretender,’ ‘My Hero,’ and ‘Learn to Fly,’ the band mixed things up with their first cover of the night – Van Halen ‘s ‘Everybody Wants You.’ The blistering guitar work and audience reaction made this one of the highlights of the evening, as the Foo Fighters showed that even on someone’s else’s material, they’re a band on top of their game. Next up in the covers catalog was the group’s take on Pink Floyd ‘s ‘In the Flesh?’ The track has been a favorite cover over the past year or so with Taylor Hawkins leading the vocals rather than Dave Grohl . The last two covers of the night also leaned to the classic rock side, with Dave Grohl leading the band through the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers classic ‘Breakdown’ first. With its moody beat, the Petty classic allowed the Foo Fighters a bit of a breather from their adrenaline fueled set. However, the mid-tempo break was quickly alleviated when Grohl and company introduced Jett. The singer, who has appeared several times with the Foo Fighters during the support of their latest album and even joined the band on the ‘Late Show with David Letterman,’ reprised the collaboration of ‘Bad Reputation’ for the Atlanta audience. With that performance bringing the audience to their feet, the Foo Fighters finished out the night with their longtime show closer, ‘Everlong.” Watch Foo Fighters Cover Van Halen’s ‘Everybody Wants Some’ Watch Foo Fighters and Joan Jett Perform ‘Bad Reputation’ [button href=”http://loudwire.com/foo-fighters-frontman-dave-grohl-downplays-reports-of-band-hiatus/” title=”Next: Foo Fighters Downplay Hiatus Talk” align=”center”]
