Welsh metalcore giants Bullet for My Valentine are set to release their fourth studio album, ‘Temper Temper,’ on Feb. 12 … of course right in time for Valentine’s Day. Brutal death metal legends Suffocation will bash your skull in with ‘Pinnacle of Bedlam’ in February with an album that successfully captures the heaviness of their live performance better than any of their past efforts. Maynard James Keenan ‘s Puscifer will also unveil new material in February with the collective’s next eclectic opus ‘Donkey Punch the Night.’ Other releases for Feb. 2013 include The Bronx’s ‘IV,’ Buckcherry ‘s ‘Confessions,’ Shai Hulud’s ‘Reach Beyond the Sun,’ RED ‘s ‘Release the Panic’ and many more. Liz Ramanand, Loudwire It proved to be a two-man race for Best New Artist at the Loudwire Music Awards and former Hollywood Undead member Deuce emerged as the victor. The rap-rock artist enjoyed a breakout year with his first solo set, ‘Nine Lives,’ which spawned the hit single ‘America’ and such fan favorites as ‘I Came to Party’ and ‘Nobody Likes Me.’ Deuce received just over 38 percent of the vote, besting another musician stepping out on his own from familiar territory. Mark Tremonti’s finished second with just over 31 percent of the final tally, proving that the Creed and Alter Bridge guitarist could make good on his own. After Deuce and Tremonti, the next closest competitor was Falling in Reverse, who earned eight percent of the vote. Congrats to the rap-rocking Deuce on the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards Best New Artist victory and all of his solo success. Stay tuned to see what he’s got in store for 2013. Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Six-string legend Slash experienced a strong 2012, capping it all off with a Loudwire Music Award for Guitarist of the Year. Every opponent Slash went up against in this category was a worthy one, to say the least, but after a hard-fought battle with Mark Tremonti for the award, Slash emerged victorious. In 2012, Slash released ‘Apocalyptic Love’ with Alter Bridge vocalist Myles Kennedy and backing band the Conspirators, capturing success thanks to his rabid fan base. Slash also made waves early in 2012 by not only receiving an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but facilitating a partial Guns N’ Roses reunion at the ceremony with various classic GN’R members joining the guitar god. Congratulations to Slash for his many achievements in 2012, which led him to win this award. The guitarist has been at the top of his game for several decades, and we wish him the very best in keeping his hot streak going strong in 2013. Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Slash struck pure vocal gold when he landed Myles Kennedy to front his solo band, and fans definitely took notice naming the rocker with the big voice the Vocalist of the Year in the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards. Kennedy took an early lead in the Vocalist of the Year category and really was never threatened with losing it. The singer earned a huge 35.7 percent of the final tally in the category, easily besting the runner-up, Stone Sour / Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor, who received just shy of 24 percent. There were 10 nominees overall, but between Kennedy, Taylor and Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale the three tallied just under of 75 percent of the vote. Congrats to Myles Kennedy on winning the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards Vocalist of the Year and keep an eye out for him returning with a new album from his main gig, Alter Bridge, and potentially releasing a solo album in 2013. Roadrunner Records Kudos to Stone Sour for winning Rock Band of the Year in the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards. In a heavily competitive heat, Stone Sour emerged as the victor with just over 23 percent of the final tally. The band’s big year was bolstered by their most ambitious release to date — ‘House of Gold & Bones, Pt. 1,’ which is only the first half of a two-part album project. Could that lead to a repeat victory in 2013? We’ll have to wait and see. As we stated, Stone Sour had a tough road to emerge as the victor. Halestorm gave them all they had, finishing second with close to 19.5 percent of the vote. With 10 nominees in the category, it speaks highly of the respect of the fan bases that only two of the competitors earned under five percent of the final sum. Congrats to Stone Sour for nabbing the honor of Rock Band of the Year in the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards. YouTube Something wicked this way comes? Mark Tremonti is readying their latest assault on the airwaves with the single ‘Wish You Well’ and he offered a rather cryptic and somewhat spooky trailer as a preview of what lies in wait. The teaser, simply titled ‘Digging Up the Past,’ puts the viewer in a rather unsettling state of mind. Whether it be the muddled whispers, the scenes of a shovel digging up something in the dark, the discovery of what seems to be an endless line that the unseen character is pulling or the revelation of Mark Tremonti opening up what appears to be a chest with the light shining back at him, there is definitely something dark and mysterious afoot. Adding to the mystery is a set of images, numbers and coordinates that will surely keep the puzzle enthusiasts and conspiracy theorists busy until the new video for ‘Wish You Well’ arrives in full on Wednesday, Jan. 16. ‘Wish You Well’ is featured on Tremonti’s debut solo effort, ‘All I Was.’ The musician and his self-titled band will be hitting the road in the coming weeks to continue promotion of the effort.
