Avenged Sevenfold’s M. Shadows: ‘We Have About Six Songs’ for New Album

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com There may have been questions at one point as to whether or not Avenged Sevenfold would continue after supporting the ‘Nightmare’ disc as a tribute to late drummer Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan, but the band is definitely progressing toward a new album. Singer M. Shadows tells The Pulse of Radio (excerpted by Blabbermouth ) that the band has resumed writing and has been working on new music since August. While keeping details close to the vest, Shadows offered, “I try not to say too much about the album because you know how the Internet world is, so I’ll just say this: We have a direction, we’re sticking to that direction and we feel really very happy writing in these terms that we’ve laid out for ourselves.” He went on to add, “The album is coming along very nicely. We’re excited to get in the studio. We have about six songs that I’m really happy with right now, and we’re continuing to write every single day.” The band showed signs of their continuance recently with the release of the new track ‘ Carry On ,’ which was tied to the ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ video game. As for the new disc, the current estimate is to expect a new Avenged Sevenfold release by June or July of next year. Hinder Frontman: New Album is Reflective of ‘Really Dark Drug Binge’

Ethan Miller/Getty Images Hard rockers Hinder are back with a new album, ‘Welcome to the Freakshow,’ out Dec. 4 , and frontman Austin Winkler isn’t holding back when it comes to opening up about the inspiration behind the album’s heavy tracks. Winkler says most of the songs are a reflection of “a really, really dark drug binge,” which drove him to rehab after the band finished the album. “I was in a very, very, very dark addiction,” Winkler told Billboard . “I think you can definitely hear the turmoil in my voice. As soon as we got the record done I went into treatment to get help, and it’s interesting to go back and listen to it now. Coming back, I have a whole new look on all of them and they mean something completely different to me now, too, so it’s pretty cool. That’s the beauty of music.” Hinder’s first single off the album, “Save Me,” is currently No. 25 on the BDS Radio chart for active rock. Winkler says the song is certainly indicative of the dark place he was in at the time of recording the album. “I was kind of in the mind set of, ‘Get out of my face. I’m too far gone to be saved,’ kind of thing,” he says. “I had a really nasty attitude in that song, but I had a blast singing and recording it. I think it’s our heaviest single yet, and we’re getting a pretty good response.” Hinder are set to play a handful of U.S. shows with Nonpoint before 2012 is over. Hinder 2012 Tour Dates: Dec. 5 – Battlecreek, Mich. @ Planet Rock Dec. 7 – Kenosha, Wis. @ The Brat Shop Dec. 8 – Fort Wayne, Ind. @ Pieres Dec. 9 – Flint, Mich. Dec. 12 – Lancaster, Pa. @ Chameleon Club

Against Me! Vocalist Laura Jane Grace Has Teeth Shattered in Concert Accident

YouTube Against Me! singer Laura Jane Grace will have reconstructive dental surgery after a crowd surfing audience member managed to accidentally knock the microphone stand into her mouth during a show, resulting in the early conclusion of the performance. The band was playing in Wilmington, N.C., on Wednesday night (Nov. 7) when it’s alleged that an audience member was pushed toward the stage into the stand that managed to shatter Grace’s teeth and led to an angry equipment throw down from the singer. Punk News reports here was no video of the incident, but fans began making online comments about what happened. One fan, Matt H., posted that he apologized for the “douchebags that stormed the stage and stopped the show,” and begged the vocalist not to think any less of the rest of the crowd because of what happened at the show. Grace offered her comments on the situation in a series of tweets that read: For those asking, last night my mic was kicked into my face and it shattered a couple of teeth. It was an accident, but still really hurt… — Laura Jane Grace (@LauraJaneGrace) November 8, 2012 I’m also pretty upset about the idea reconstructive dental surgery. — Laura Jane Grace (@LauraJaneGrace) November 8, 2012 I’m gonna start a kickstarter to get a diamond grill like Kanye — Laura Jane Grace (@LauraJaneGrace) November 8, 2012 Against Me! have been working on a new album called ‘Transgender Dysphoria Blues,’ that will reportedly touch on Laura Jane Grace’s transformation over the past year. Trent Reznor Reveals New Nine Inch Nails Material ‘In the Works’

Sean Gardner, Getty Images The news just keeps getting better for fans of Trent Reznor . While he has received many accolades for his soundtrack work over the last couple of years, fans have been longing for the return of Nine Inch Nails . Now comes word from Reznor himself that Nine Inch Nails are definitely back in action and working on new material. Reznor recently revealed that his How to Destroy Angels project would be arriving with new music, which led to questions about if and when the frontman would revive the band where he made his musical name. The Nine Inch Nails mastermind tells  Rolling Stone  in a new interview, “All signs point to yes. Yeah, there will be new music. There are some things in the works.” Not only could fans potentially see a new album or singles, but Reznor, who retired Nine Inch Nails from touring in 2009, revealed that there may be some shows, as well. When asked about the idea of performing, he explained, “Yeah, if it feels right. It’s a possibility. I never said that that wasn’t going to happen, just that it couldn’t go on as it was. Having a few years doing other things, I’ve enjoyed [them] and I’m enjoying doing How to Destroy Angels, and there will be a place for stuff that falls in the Nine Inch Nails column of things. It’s a different kind of work. Stay tuned. We’ll see what happens.” In other news, but Reznor has been working with the Beats by Dre company on “a number of very interesting projects.” He also provided the soundtrack to the new video game, ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops.’ As for How to Destroy Angels, we know that will come first as they’ve already revealed a Nov. 13 release for the ‘ An Omen ‘ EP. The group, which also features Reznor’s wife Mariqueen Maandig and his music composing partner Atticus Ross, are also working on a full-length album that will follow early next year. Shinedown: We’ve Already Recorded a New Album

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com There’s no doubt that Shinedown ‘s Brent Smith is a prolific writer, but it appears as though he and his hard-working band have gotten ahead of the game for their next album. Despite releasing ‘Amaryllis’ earlier this year, Smith reveals to  NME that the band has already recorded a new album. The singer told the Brit-mag in a video interview , “I’ve thought about new material. It’s funny because … and you’re actually the very first person I’ll tell this too … We’ve actually, we have another record of material. It’s actually recorded.” Speaking about the new music, Smith explained, “It’s still very massive. It has a very epic feel to it, but the tempos are a little slower and the subject matter is a little different. I would say it’s actually a bit darker — a little bit more mischievous.” While the next album is ready, there’s still plenty of life in ‘ Amaryllis ,’ as the group is taking the opportunity to promote it in other parts of the world. The singer revealed, “This was the first true international record we received, and I say received because it really is an honor and it’s a gift and a privilege to get an opportunity from your record label to be released internationally, because not every band or every artist gets that opportunity.” The ‘Amaryllis’ album has already spawned the hit singles ‘ Bully ,’ ‘ Unity ‘ and ‘ Enemies .’ [button href=”http://loudwire.com/shinedown-groove-on-new-unity-remixes/” title=”Next: Shinedown Groove on ‘Unity’ Remixes” align=”center”]

Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl Rejoins Queens of the Stone Age for Next Album

Mark Mainz / Jonathan Wood, Getty Images We now know what Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is going to do with at least part of his hiatus , as it’s been revealed that he’s returned to the drumkit to play on the next Queens of the Stone Age album. Queens leader Josh Homme confirmed the news to BBC Radio . For further proof, the band posted a mixing board photo on their Facebook page  (see below) showing the knobs for Homme’s guitar and Grohl’s drums. With the addition of Grohl, that means that longtime drummer Joey Castillo has exited the band . Homme confirmed Castillo’s exit during his appearance on BBC Radio. Incidentally, Castillo joined the group following the 2002 album ‘Songs for the Deaf,’ which featured Grohl on drums. Grohl and Homme have a longtime friendship and musical connection that also included their partnership in the band Them Crooked Vultures . Homme revealed earlier this year that the band had returned to recording after several stops and starts in recent years. The band’s sixth studio album will be the follow-up to their 2007 effort, ‘Era Vulgaris.’ The group had reportedly worked on material dating as far back as 2008, and a supposed 2011 release never came to fruition. Though an official release date has not been announced, a new album is expected in 2013 and the group has already booked appearances at Lollapalooza Brazil and Chile and at the Download Festival . In addition to his upcoming plans with Queens of the Stone Age, Dave Grohl is in the process of wrapping up his ‘ Sound City ‘ documentary, based on the popular Los Angeles recording studio and featuring many top names in rock that have recorded there over the years.
