Lacuna Coil and Sevendust Join Forces for Early 2013 U.S. Tour

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com / Ethan Miller, Getty Images Lacuna Coil have enjoyed a solid year touring behind their ‘ Dark Adrenaline ‘ album and it looks as though 2013 will start off on a high note, as well. The band has just announced a February run with Sevendust that will keep them in the U.S. for the entire month. Lacuna Coil have been spreading the sounds of ‘Dark Adrenaline’ around the world this past year and is eager to continue their support back in America. The trek launches Feb. 2 in Winston-Salem, N.C. and continues through the Feb. 23 finale in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Tickets for the tour go on sale this Friday (Nov. 30). To help fans stay in the loop with the Italian rockers, the band launched their own social network-fan community  with the help of Mobile Backstage back in October right as they were starting their ‘Dark Legacy’ tour of Europe. The app has been available through the band’s website, Facebook page and for iPhone and Android. As for Sevendust, the band just announced a March 26 release for their ninth studio album, ‘ Black Out the Sun .’ The band will issue their lead single ‘Decay’ on Jan. 22, giving it enough time to catch hold at radio before the tour launches. Puddle of Mudd’s Wes Scantlin Cleared of Public Intoxication Charge

Kevin Winter, Getty Images Puddle of Mudd ‘s Wes Scantlin is breathing a little easier, as TMZ reports that the public intoxication charge against him for a JetBlue airline incident has been dropped. The rocker was arrested in September in Austin, Texas for alleged public intoxication after fighting with an airline attendant who refused to serve him alcohol. The argument was significant enough that the Los Angeles-bound plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Austin. According to reports, the judge in the case ruled that there was “insufficient evidence” to prosecute the singer. The vocalist claimed that he was sober at the time of the argument. The Puddle of Mudd singer could have faced jail time had the charge stood, as he was previously charged with cocaine possession in June, but remained free as part of a plea deal so long as he stayed out of trouble for 18 months. Rob Zombie Says He’ll Stop Making Music When It’s No Longer Fun

Kevin Winter, Getty Images Rob Zombie has two passions he’s been able to balance equally well in recent years — heading up his own rock band and growing his burgeoning career as a movie director. But Zombie is very aware of the burnout factor that may set in at some point in his life and has a plan in place if and when that happens. The rocker told Metal Hammer that there’s not any fear of having a period where he’s “going through the motions” because if that starts happening, he’ll just shut down whatever he’s doing. He explains, “I always stopped, like when White Zombie was miserable, when we were at the height of our fame, the shows were huge, it was a big arena tour, and I was just like, ‘I’m done. I can’t go onstage anymore and pretend like this is awesome.’” Zombie says of the potential for that happening in the future, “If I’m having fun, I’ll dedicate myself around the clock, but as soon as it’s not, I’m out. Kids think you’re doing things for money, but money became irrelevant a long time ago. It might be why a lot of people do it, but it’s not why I do anything.” Rob Zombie spent the fall touring with Marilyn Manson  on the excellent ‘Twins of Evil’ tour , which now makes its way to the U.K. for the remainder of November before exploring the rest of Europe in December. Punk + Metal Jacket Designer: Chris Brown ‘Doesn’t F—in’ Know Who Cro-Mags Are!’

Kevin Winter, Getty Images / DNA Fashion Designs We punk rockers and metalheads are defensive when we spot a poser. The hard-fought careers of underground bands such as Municipal Waste , Suicidal Tendencies , Cro-Mags and Corrosion of Conformity are worth more than just a jacket, especially when that jacket is worn by R&B singer Chris Brown. The online metal community took aim at Brown after he was photographed wearing a leather jacket adorned with the logos of underground legends, and if you had any doubts about Brown’s sincerity underneath the fashion statement, the man who created the jacket, Noel Austin, has come out to say, “That guy doesn’t f—in’ know who Cro-Mags are.” Noel Austin of DNA Fashion Designs recently spoke with Metal Insider about Chris Brown and how the designer felt about seeing him wearing one of his jackets. “I was about s–t myself when I saw Chris Brown with my jacket that said ‘Cro-Mags’ on it,” Austin tells Metal Insider. “That guy doesn’t f—in’ know who Cro-Mags are. I didn’t sell it to him! Do you really think Chris Brown goes online and buys his own clothes? He doesn’t even write his own music.” Austin continues, “I’m 40 years old, an old punk rocker, a single parent, and with not much of an education. I’d always made everyone’s costumes onstage and made my own clothes, and I had a couple people offer to buy jackets off my back. At first, I was like, “f— you, you’re not punk rock, I’m not selling you my jacket.’ But when I almost lost my place to live, the next time someone offered to buy my jacket, I sold it to them, and a light bulb went off over my head and I realized I could stay home and take care of my family and do what I love doing. An opportunity came along, I jumped on it, and the next thing I know, celebrities are buying my s–t!” “The clothes I make are a direct reflection of my life,” adds Austin. “All the bands you see on the clothes, I grew up listening to them, and I still listen to them, or I’ve gotten turned on to them by other people … The beauty of what I do is I go to these shows, I buy the patches and support the bands, and I put these patches on the clothes and sell them on a worldwide level. And it promotes these bands.” Check out Noel Austin’s official website for DNA Fashion Designs , which proudly states, “Noel Austin’s creation WILL change you. This is more than fashion, more than image, it’s a lifestyle.” [button href=”http://www.zimbio.com/pictures/tfTvYMl7KLM/Chris+Brown+Steps+Out+Flashy+Jacket/1JhsKqP7_aQ” title=”See Pictures of Chris Brown Sporting the Metal Jacket” align=”center”]

Singer Chris Brown Dons Jacket With Logos of Municipal Waste, Cro-Mags + More

Brendon Thorne, Getty Images / Nuclear Blast This week in irritating poser news (we assume), R&B singer  Chris Brown was recently spotted in a leather jacket covered in the logos of legendary punk and crossover thrash acts. Brown, who once made headlines for physically abusing then-girlfiend Rihanna, spent a night on the town adorned with both blue and zebra-striped patches, along with the logos of Municipal Waste , Suicidal Tendencies , Cro-Mags , Corrosion of Conformity , D.R.I., The Exploited and more. The world of someone like Chris Brown is deeply rooted in fashion, so apparently the sarcastic adoption of underground passion is in this winter. Obviously we can’t prove it, but it seems pretty safe to assume that Chris Brown has never listened to any of these pulverizing, aggressive, circle pit-starting acts. Predictably, fans who have found genuine purpose and solace within the underground scene aren’t pleased with Brown’s jacket, with a sentiment of bastardization shared between proud supporters of their favorite bands. Municipal Waste tweeted a reaction to their inclusion on Chris Brown’s jacket: For the record. Chris Brown can sport our shit all he wants. We still think he is a fucking moron. — MUNICIPAL WASTE (@MUNICIPALWASTE) November 18, 2012 There’s always the chance that Brown is an out-of-the-closet metalhead, but we doubt that. Down Talk Possible New Musical Directions, Recording While Still Alive + Being Handsome

Independent Label Group Down  recently visited Loudwire’s offices when they were on tour in New York City. The entire group swarmed on our little studio room to talk about their four-part series of ‘Down IV’ EPs, all the while anointing themselves the most handsome band in the history of handsome while knocking back a few beers. After releasing ‘Down IV Part 1 – The Purple EP’ in September, the band refused to put a timeline on the next EP. Frontman Philip Anselmo intimated that perhaps he might not be in the right mood to record another EP at this point, and that he may find himself inspired by flute music or technical death metal in the future. Guitarist Pepper Keenan then joked that it’ll take them 20 years to release all four EPs. Since the members of Down have so many other projects going at once, we had to ask them how they manage to hunker “Down” and and actually do Down. “We all know when it’s time to do Down, it’s time to do Down,” Anselmo said. “Down has a core audience that surpasses any of our current singular audiences.” ‘Down IV Part 1 – The Purple EP,’ featuring the single ‘Witchtripper,’ is currently available at iTunes . Down will return to the road this winter with Warbeast on ‘The Weed & Speed Tour: West Coast Throwdown in the Year of XIII.” Tickets for the tour are available here ; check out the dates below the video. Tom Morello Says ‘No Plans’ for Rage Against the Machine Beyond Reissue of Debut Album

Kevin Winter, Getty Images With the 20th anniversary edition of their self-titled debut set to be released Nov. 27, Rage Against the Machine fans are wondering if the band plans on recording a new album. Hopes were raised when bassist Tim Commerford said “maybe” when asked if the band was up to anything new, and then followed that up with the more emphatic ‘ definitely maybe ” a little while later. But now, guitarist  Tom Morello in a new interview tells  Billboard they have “no plans beyond” the release of ‘Rage Against the Machine: XX.’ “We’re really psyched to be putting this out for the fans,” Morello says of the deluxe reissue. “We are blessed with having perhaps the most passionate fans to ever listen to a bootlegged recording or mosh at a show, so I want to really give them a mother lode of Rage Against The Machine history, past and present.” RATM hasn’t released a studio album since 2000′s ‘Renegades,’ but reunited at Coachella in 2007 and have played sporadic live shows since then. Their last performance was in July of 2011 at the L.A. Rising Festival. In looking back at their debut album, Morello says it feels good that it’s as relevant as ever. “It doesn’t feel like 20 years, but at the same time it’s sobering that it is. There’s no crystal ball that we could’ve looked into when we were writing these songs in 1991 that would have told us we’d be talking about this record over two decades later.” Morello adds, ”And I will say that 20 years later we’re able to take pride in the fact that in the history of rock music there has never been a more popular band with as radical politics as Rage Against The Machine, nor has there been a band with more radical politics than Rage Against The Machine that has been as popular. That is the lasting testament to the first shot fired by this album and how it continues to resonate with rebels around the world.” ‘Rage Against the Machine – XX’ can be pre-ordered here .
